:eenaw:

I am one of thoes chaps who gives a good nod
to on coming bikes and gets a good feeling to
get one back .After all were all fellow bikers.
But just a latey the trend seems to be dropping off
I had a run to bakewell today to get some chips
like you do, and i'm giving it the old nod and getting
sod all in return . I thought bugger this , the next
bike i'm not giving a nod , guess what its the old
plod on his pan and he gives me a nod .I thought
thats a flook , next its a bloke on a scooter and he
gives me a nod.
I'm very confused!
WHATS IT ALL ABOUT ?

Yep.....I nod.

Unless I'm just setting up for a bend or the traffic is a bit heavy then I'm concentrating on where I'm going !!!! Why is it the biker firing out of the bend nods......I'm watching the road......then I feel guilty for not returning the nod ?? :} :}

Me too... nod, or wave, or generally say a remote sorta 'hi!' to all two wheel users..
I have to larf at some of the reactions I get from L plated scooter riders

You beat me to it Richard.. I was gonna say I rather expected Pierre top do the half can can bit ! Certainly what I do when in France ....

i dont need to nod..me pillion does all the bloody nodding..and the extra "just in case" signals when turning, slow down signals, tap on the side when theres a speed camera coming up, was warned today by a bike coming towards me of a copper..sure enough a little up the road plod sitting on his bike on the roundabout..coundnt be more hi-vi if you stuck xmas lights on the bugger..sure enough me mate starts prodding me side (about 10 times  )
had a word with him about it once we stoped and got the..well if you dont want me to do it i wont bother in future kinda remarks
gonna have to get him a pair of stick on handlebars soon
the thing that amases me is he knows when im gonna turn before i put the indicators on lol..looked in the mirror a few times as we were aproaching turnngs i was going to take..and sure enough his fooking hand is right out like an air brake

:yo: I find riding the Blackbird gets me more nods than I ever got when I was riding the 125, guess its an elitest thing?? People nod outta respect, dont know, but I do, when safe to do so, nod at all bikers, well except spotty teens with loose helmets on scooters :shooter:

Yeah I know, frogs stick their legs out (ooo err...) especially to thanks cars letting them pass but also to salute, but it's relatively a new thing - my generation of bikers still do the V, it's an old thing from when we were fighting the anti-bike laws back in the 70s-80s, as in Victory will be ours - that was the French biking history lesson of the day :yo:

Yep

I find that a good nod goes a long way ( depending on what speed you are doing of course ).
:p
And as Clive said, I love the grin you get off ' new riders' when you give them a nod, must give them a bit of a boost.

A lot of riders on the .org board were talking about the same thing not too long ago.

When I first started riding, I waved at everyone on two wheels, I could care less what you ride  We are all out trying to enjoy some peaceful riding, it doesnt matter what you have/can afford.

But, lately, I have found it harder and harder to wave to the Harley crowd. Just thinking about it works me up. I have waived to so many of them and gotten SO FEW back. I mean, they dont even look at you. Yeah, I know that they sure as heck dont need to return the gesture, its just a courtesy thing I thought :dunno:

I mean, Im crusing on the Highway and one comes up and overtakes me (yeah, I know  ), and I nod or something and they just pretend Im not there. Now, I get a tad upset and usually drop a gear and go WOT on their ass for a bit....just for fun 8ree!

Thats ok though, I usually will only wave to a HD rider if he/she initiates it first. Ohh well, I guess to many people think their better than everyone else :violin:

Always wave - or at least nod if the hands are otherwise occupied. Even after I've passed another rider, I wave over my shoulder. Some wave back - others don't. It makes me feel good to wave. If they don't wave back - "Oh well." :p There does seem to be some cliquey attitudes in relation to what kind of bike one rides - that's their problem.
Even cars wave at me sometimes or give me the thumbs up - so I wave back at cars too.
