well for me and mine anyways.....

have had to stand off the bike whilst filling with petrol for ages now, yesterday was told to remove helmet before i could pay for my fuel, protested let me off, today popped in to get some baccie got told have to remove helmet, why i am not buying petrol??? then got told it is because i might rob the garage!!!! it had about 30 people in it and i have a flip up lid which was up so all of my face was visible.

she then said that she could lose her job over this as they have been threated that it could happen. said sorry to her paid fo the baccie and left, still with my helmet on.

So sainsburys are prepared to sack the gargae staff over it and they are also prepared to lose ?5000 a year from me. :lol: :lol:

I'm getting really pi$$ed off with this attitude towards bikers - we rob, we are reckless, and we are stupid (dont know how to fill a bike up).

I would like to know exactly how many bikes have burst into flames while a rider has been sitting on it filling it up.

How many times have they been robbed by a biker who actually pulls up, fills his bike and then enters the store to pay for the feckin stuff?.

If filling a vehicle with fuel is so dangerous, why dont they ask passengers of cars to get out and stand somewhere safe before filling up. Especially if its a vehilce filled with disabled or elderly people who cant move for themselves and require help, how the hell are they expected to get out quickly if the vehicle suddenly goes up in flames?. Its bollox. :rant:

When abroad, such as riding to Assen, if stations over there insisted on this stupid rule of removing your helmet, imagine how much they would lose as they would be given the bird - or simply ignored.

Agghhhh :rant: :rant:

:-: thats better, calm....calm.....

whilst I concur with soem of your points Buzz

personally, I can't see the problem with lids being removed or as Trostky did "flip his lid" :dunno: If it means that some individual being paid less than ?5 an hour & in a position of potential risk feels less intimidated, I'll gladly remove my helmet; it takes seconds FFS :p

If I read it right, Wolfie had his lid flipped up and was STILL asked to tkae it off. On a personal note, and aware this does not affect most of you, If I was asked to take mine off I`d refuse, I have nearly waist length hair, I spend a few mins making sure sure it tucked into my buff and making sure its in my jacket, my lid is so tight when I take it off, the buff comes with it, I`m buggered if I`m going to spend time sorting it out in the bleeding petrol station. If my money isn`t good enough then tough shit I`ll go elsewhere. They don`t get chavs to take of their baseball bats or hoodies. and they wouldn`t dare insult the muslims by asking them to remove their Burkha`s so why should we remove our helmets. Lifting the visor should be good enough, after all if you`re going to rob them, you`re going to rob them and no amount of rules will stop that.

correct. buff was pulled down to expose the chin as well.

what greived me the most was that they had been threated with losing their job if they failed to get us to remove the helmet!!!

joe and lumpy, i do believed that they would be more scared of me if i took my helmet off!!!!! Find that my hair does tend to do that to some people

The sign actually says that if we remove our helmets, they'll be able to serve us better. Are they offering to bribe us - because I'm up for that!

On another note, how about a couple of mass protests. Say 50 bikes taking over all the pumps and vveerryy vveerryy sslloowwllyy removing helmets, then gloves, then filling up, then searching for money, then going in to pay, then slowly putting helmets back on, then gloves, then taking gloves off again, then checking oil, then removing helmet, then going back in to buy oil (not that you'd use it) all with another four or five bikes queuing at each pump.

And what d'ya hope to gain from this MASS (50 :rolleyes: ) protest? All you'd achieve is to further antagonise other road users who probably already have distorted views of bikers. Personally, when I fill up and there's a vehicle waiting for my pump (without putting my helmet on), I push my bike to a safe area, then go in and pay; it always gets acknowledged and I like to think an effortless act like that helps to create a different perspective in the eyes of the general public :dunno: .
Then again, they might be thinking "what a mug" :dunno: :}
Then again, my road bike doesn't weigh 230 kilos :}

You never seen StuddleyRoger putting his lid on then. Looks like tutankhamun in a leather jacket before the bleeding lid goes on. In fact he looks like a suicide bomer without the lid. Half of last weeks washing wrapped round his head.

I'm sure it'e been posted before but

if the garages want us to remove our helmets it sould be clearly signed at the entrance to the garage. Not an itty bitty sign on the door that you only read once you've already filled up. If its clear then you can make youre own desicion if you want to comply. personally I'd wait till I got to the next one that wasn't so anti biker.
I always leave my helmet on, lift the visor and have my wallet out ready to pay.
The majority of garages robbed, are done so by Neds (chavs to the English among you) in baseball caps and hoodies.

My personal experience is that the smaller individually owned garages seem to be the friendliest and dont mind the helmet on thing ... perhaps we should just leave Sainsburys, Tesco alone as much as poss?? :dunno:
