My Tribute Cobra build

Little update time I think
The garage has been decimated with Covid, they are down to 2 working …… from a much larger team !!!
So my ‘project’ is on the back burner …. Which is fine with me.
But the base coat has gone on …. Note I didn’t say primer !!
The primer is already on and this is the base colour !!! The top colour shade is affected by the base colour …. And as you can see it’s looking rather nice so far !!
Couple of little areas to flat BUT this will be done before the next stage
There is 1 coat of lacquer at the moment to protect this base coat and this will be all flatted off before the next colour coats go on ….
We decided on at least 5 layers of top coat …. This will give it the desired shine and depth …. THEN more lacquer on top !!
TBH this colour looks great and much better than some finished cars I have seen ….. BUT my project has many more layers to go !!!

Todays update ….
Went to the garage this morning, and the colour is ON
Looking damn good …. Even if I say so myself !
I have to go in on Tuesday to help mark the stripes out …. I’ve chose tapered stripes as originally Shelby designed the stripes on the car and he decided straight stripes looked wrong with the curves of the car ….
So I’m honouring this with my design
(If I mark these out …. I can’t blame the garage if it looks wrong !!)
I should get the car back just after Christmas …. Ready for the winter ??

A very slight tweak to Shelby’s measurements, due to this Cobra kit being a very slightly different size to the original car, plus hood position and boot hinge location ….. these little things that some people wouldn’t be bothered about !!
So far I am rather happy.

Considering his taste in motor vehicles and colour choices .... probably not!
