Advisories flagged on last 2 MOT's
  • Front Brake indicates slight fluctuation of brake effort (1.2.1 (e))
Anyone elaborate as what could be the cause?
Why has this not been rectified before sale of bike?
I realise this could be a multitude of things, warped disc, crud in the brake pistons, uneven tyre wear...etc, but it will be logged with vosa and could affect any insurance claim in the future.
I have asked the dealer to elaborate, see
what the reply is.

Check if the bike has floating disc's fitted as the bobbin's might be stuck with crud!

Had the same on ther rear brake disc on my Trophy. Turns out to be a very slightly warped disc, so slight I can't feel it throgh the brake pedal & I'm not going to worry about it.

Warped disc !
Usually caused by stuck pistons but can be the result of knackered bobbins floating too much then grabbing as you brake

I test. I see dozens of these in the rollers. Depends on how bad the fluctuation is whether an advise or fail. Some you can’t feel through the lever but can see it on the scale. New discs or skimmed if you know someone with the kit. Or live with it till you can feel it ?

Very possible. The give away is the mark on the fork leg
Looking at the pics, front disc rota is not oem.
Tis a wavy type replacement, but the pic is too blurry to make out any damage to the fork or the manufacturers rota.

Ok...MOT Definition of Brake fluctuation.
(e) Excessive fluctuation in brake effort through each wheel revolutionMajor
The head scratcher: If it's classed as a major defect, how can that be an advisory when it could be an imminent failure? Twice??

The tester has put it down as an advisory is all I can think of, you need to actually see the mot to be sure mate
