Reading Danbow's post today set me thinking..... what are we doing to support each other..?
We're supposed to be a community of like minded types (mostly) so what are we actually doing to support each other during this, the most silly of silly seasons..?
Most, if not all of us, have experienced some low periods over the last 18 months or so. If we are, as we claim we are, a brotherhood of bikers, Bird owners and former owners (Minkey and Artemis.....consider yourself brothers for the time being
) then we should be there for each other. Otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, there's no real point to BIRD.
So what, I hear you shout, are we supposed to do ....?
Well for a start, if one of us needs some help or a bit of company, a shoulder to cry on, a face to rant at, an actual person who gives a shit to talk to.... wouldn't it be nice if you could call on one of us and they would come.... because they gave a shit...?
Plenty of people will say "yeah, you can rely on me".... Well now it's time to prove it.
It's your call as members, whether you would want to be that person to message or call up, but I'm going to set the ball rolling by saying that I'm more than happy to travel to meet anyone of you if you need someone to talk to, or if you need help doing something. I live in Havant, next to Portsmouth, but that doesn't mean shit if you need help. I'll travel if it means helping a fellow member. Except for gardening...you can keep that shit to yourself.....it's supposed to be good for the soul anyway, or so I heard.
Now I know that there's plenty of camaraderie amongst many of the long established Bird members. Lots of you go back a long way and well before my time on here. But if you want BIRD to mean something more than just a collection of Blackbird owners then it's time to do something meaningful, especially for those members who haven't been on here since Fred Flinstone rode the first Harley.
Now's the time, gentlemen..... step up and declare yourselves. Member or bystander...?
If you're in then put your name here and the area(s) you reckon you're happy to cover to help a member.
P.S. Danbow, my apologies if this has put you on the spot.... that was not my intention, mate. Think of yourself as the catalyst.
