Reading Danbow's post today set me thinking..... what are we doing to support each other..?

We're supposed to be a community of like minded types (mostly) so what are we actually doing to support each other during this, the most silly of silly seasons..?
Most, if not all of us, have experienced some low periods over the last 18 months or so. If we are, as we claim we are, a brotherhood of bikers, Bird owners and former owners (Minkey and Artemis.....consider yourself brothers for the time being (y)) then we should be there for each other. Otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, there's no real point to BIRD.

So what, I hear you shout, are we supposed to do ....?

Well for a start, if one of us needs some help or a bit of company, a shoulder to cry on, a face to rant at, an actual person who gives a shit to talk to.... wouldn't it be nice if you could call on one of us and they would come.... because they gave a shit...?

Plenty of people will say "yeah, you can rely on me".... Well now it's time to prove it.

It's your call as members, whether you would want to be that person to message or call up, but I'm going to set the ball rolling by saying that I'm more than happy to travel to meet anyone of you if you need someone to talk to, or if you need help doing something. I live in Havant, next to Portsmouth, but that doesn't mean shit if you need help. I'll travel if it means helping a fellow member. Except for gardening...you can keep that shit to yourself.....it's supposed to be good for the soul anyway, or so I heard.

Now I know that there's plenty of camaraderie amongst many of the long established Bird members. Lots of you go back a long way and well before my time on here. But if you want BIRD to mean something more than just a collection of Blackbird owners then it's time to do something meaningful, especially for those members who haven't been on here since Fred Flinstone rode the first Harley.

Now's the time, gentlemen..... step up and declare yourselves. Member or bystander...?

If you're in then put your name here and the area(s) you reckon you're happy to cover to help a member.

P.S. Danbow, my apologies if this has put you on the spot.... that was not my intention, mate. Think of yourself as the catalyst. (y)

P.S. If you agree with me then FFS don't just put up a thumbs up emoji.....that's meaningless unless you put you're fucking name up too.

I am a member of operation spartan on facebook, it is aimed at offering support to veterans & believe me there’s many that need it, I have given advice to many on there, one or two have my phone number (none have used it yet) I am not a professional counsellor however I am ex forces & have worked my entire working life in stressful jobs so I feel I have something to offer, as for travelling then I would have to say no at the moment due to family circumstances.

The younger brother of my daughter’s ex threw himself off a bridge & survived however he will never be able to walk more than about ten yards, when he came out of hospital the first person he contacted was my daughter, neither she nor her ex husband had heard from him for over nine years, she took pity on him because of his upbringing so she agreed to visit him, we advised her not to but she ignored us, now she is being pestered with phone calls & texts from him, the point is that sometimes people look in the wrong place for help

What a brilliant post. I'm happy to be a catalyst to anyone getting help.

Theres a group on Facebook called Mental Health Motorbike Support Group. As the title suggests they're a support group for bikers. They attended the recent adventure bike show and are hoping to grow to be UK wide. I've only joined the group in the last couple of days and havent asked for help yet but of the few posts I seen by other people, they seem very supportive.

There are 2 groups, the general group that pushes who they are and the above linked group that is the support group.

Even though I'm struggling, I'm in Shropshire right on the border with Wrexham. If I can help anyone else, I will.

And a big thank you to the member that messaged me within mere minutes of my post offering me his phone number. The gesture on it's own was enough to bring a tear to my eye knowing that someone is there.

I'm definitely up for this (y)

I'm in leafy Cheshire - have blackbird, will travel :)

As I work shifts and am still spending a lot of time furloughed :( I can be available to chat to at some very odd times if someone needs it :)

But I'm more than happy to help out.....

Good post but I don’t want Poo Plough at my house. I can’t afford the food to cover his very short stay.

He seems to have a very specialised diet, aren't most of supplement things he consumes mostly cement slurry?
Just order a ready mix load and he'll be happy as a pig in shit :)

Not mental health related but I recall in the earlier days of bird I had a computer problem, a certain member got on his bird & rode from Wales to Barnsley, sorted my computer & rode back again, a round trip of over six hours thank you Bill (Centaur) your kindness is not forgotten.

Brilliant post (y)

I am in Tamworth right in the middle of the country and am more than happy to travel to help anyone out any way I can, distance isn't a problem, if I have fuel I am happy to burn it, if you have coffee that's a bonus

Equally if any of you regulars are passing through the area feel free to give me a shout and drop in for a brew/chat/pisstake/whatever you need, a few of you already have my number feel free to use it anytime

Not sure what help I can offer with mental health issues, I have suffered myself and anything I could say would be based on my own ongoing experiences but I can say we all suffer to some extent its how you deal with it that counts.

If anyone wants my number just ask!

Went to brilliant little rally in Tamworth a couple of years ago.
Wakinyan rally ?
That was last weekend and some of my mates are still recovering :meparto:its about 5 miles from me but I rarely go as I prefer to travel a bit for rallies

There used to be a few good rallies around here but covid seems to have killed a few off, feel free to drop in if you are coming this way anytime bud (y)

Yes it was. I went 2019. It was cancelled last year and I intended to go this year.

I might pop over one day just for a matter.
