FFS mate be clear from the start the other person is responsible for their actions and your losses so its up to them to sort it out with no monetary loss to you it really is that simple when you cut through the bullshit

Dont let them take the bike until you are happy with the settlement, they have no right to despite what they may tell you, if you want to keep it and repair yourself tell them that now and stick to it then negotiate the price and remember they will lie at every turn in order to give you the minimum they can and the more companies involved the worse it is for you as they all want a piece of the pie

Again do not let them take your bike for any reason until you are weighed in fully, i worked in the repair industry for a short while and the practices are poor bordering on theft at times I really cant stress this enough ! any repairs they do will be sub standard without a doubt so if you keep it and cant repair yourself then get it done at a shop of your choice at their cost (you will need 3 quotes)

If they do write it off and you let them remove it make sure you are paid first or it will take months (if they are slack recovering what will have become their property then tell them you will be charging them storage)

Lastly never accept the first offer you want the amount it will cost to replace like for like, same condition and very similar mileage even down to if it was a 2 owner bike then that what you want so start looking at adds for similar birds (expensive ones) and save them as proof that it will cost you x amount to replace like for like

Fight fight and fight again until you are happy mate because if you try to be nice and reasonable these

How very colourful,Slim. Personal experience? Where's the bit I highlighted about bend you over and go in dry?

:jaja-no: experience of the retards trying it on and fighting them until i got half as much again as their original offer and got to keep the bike !

They kept making stupid offers and i kept replying with either i can't buy the same condition bike for that money but if you can find me one i will take it!
in the end they were sending me adverts weekly for different bikes and i would reject them all on condition or mileage or both, they had originally rejected my offer to keep the bike and do the work myself but by the time i was done they were begging me to keep it and offered a decent amount ....... (£150 and change less than i had paid 14 months earlier)

If I had just folded like many people do I would have got a quarter of the original value and lost the bike into the salvage minefield

They are not your friends and not there to help you they are there to f**k you over any way they can and rake money in for themselves

Ok, the plot thickens.
I contacted the 3rd parties insurance.
Very helpful and when I asked what exactly the cheque off was for?
The reply was 'damage to my vehicle meaning to cover repairs'.
That is not what it states on the letter, it actually states: 'Payment in respect of the estimated value of your vehicle'.
Oh? right, Well the person who wrote the cheque has gone home and she will ring
to clarify what it is exactly for.
What time is best for you?
Excellent I said, now what are you going to do about my crash helmet? It's a one
shot product and needs replacing.
She totally agreed as she used to do motocross and will mention a replacement lid too.
So I await a phone call tomorrow.
What ever you do, do not let anyone bar the 3rd party insurers get involved ESPECIALY claim handlers
They are only in the game to cream what they can from you
You ( with the fantastic advice Tony brings to the table ) are doing fine without them
If someone does try to collect the bike tell them to F off in no uncertain terms

That's been sorted John.
Sent another e-mail stating that the 3rd party has admitted liability and I no longer
need any further action from them.
The reply was: 'Thanks for letting us know'.
That should be the last contact I have with these spongers.
I would like to say huge thanks to everyone for your knowledgeable advice, that's reason enough for me to keep paying my membership and annoy you
lot on here.
It has been quite stressful for me, mainly
cause my heads been rattled with everything going on.
It's good to know that I can come on here and ask for help.

Thank you ALL.:Champ:
