I watched a documentary about KkK on iplayer this morning on the train. Worth watching as it shows perspective from a number of angles.
There Are some unbelievably ignorant people out there. To hear one of the KkK members understanding of the nazi concentration camps was at best disturbing.
A programme where few came out with any credit. The worst aspect of all was seeing children being indoctrinated. What chance have they got?:dunno:

Clueless in most things
I watched it at the time of originally playing. Interestingly whilst they seem to be just angry people, when they went to the city hall to complain about the confederate flag being removed, they remained angry but peacefull. It was however those who claimed to be "the oppressed" that started to be violent so the Klan is not always the raging monster some claim to justify their own bad behaviour.
From the programme I saw an organisation that talks a lot but does very little but the opposing sides did a lot of shouting and felt violence was better, in many ways the modern klan seemed unwilling to take the step towards violence that it's opposition was more than happy too
As to children being indoctrinated, the same could be said of those being raised within a faith and islam stands out as the least tolerant of all religions are those not indoctrinated also?
I agree when I heard the idiot talk about the camps I was a bit dumbfounded but I put that more down to a dumb hick than a reflection of all in the kkk
Extremists are all shapes and colours, all faiths and no faiths
To sanitize history means we will make those same mistakes again
as it was bbc 3 ? I'd reccomend watchin reggie yates in south africa, that will be a real eye opener
I'm not sure I agree 100% about 'peaceful protesters'. There were plenty who looked like they were looking for trouble to me and also said as much. The mere presence of Kkk and other groups at the protest looked like it was designed to incite and then plead they were the innocent victims:dunno:
To hide some of the behaviours behind The First Amendment (right to free speech) made me wonder if free speech is always 100% right.
Thank heavens these extremists are a small minority.
It was Also amusing to see the Kkk woman claim that every time the phone rang it was a new member wanting to sign up. yeah, right 8rfl@
I am now reminded of an incident a couple of years back.
One of our Senior Officers is a druid & he had a white robe complete with hood made in one of our workshops.
In the carpentry shop they had made a large crucifix for our chapel.
One of the civilian instructors donned the robe & carried the crucifix round the shop.
Most of the prisoners laughed & took it in good spirit knowing the sense of humour of the instructor.
One prisoner complained saying that the instructor was racist & was representing the KKK.
The instructor still has his job.
