How did it go, TC...?

I have no idea how I did as they were not letting on or giving anything away.

I was one of 5 being interviewed going for one job and that is just yesterday and I don't know how many more have gone before or will follow.

I will be notified within a week if I have made it to second interview, but I am working on the basis that I blew it so that when they say no, I won't be dissapointed.

Fingers crossed.

There is no such thing as a wasted interview, especially if you haven't been interviewed for donkeys years.

One of the things I liked was a candidate getting in touch prior to the interview to ask what form the interview would take. I was always happy to give a broad answer to the question as I admired the initiative. They got a tick in the box before they were even interviewed.

These days 'structured interviews' are very common i.e. Everyone gets asked the same questions and often they are 'tell ma about an example where yo have done something to demonstrate creative thinking/teamwork/decision making/whatever' - anyone who goes into that type of interview without prepearing will get blown out of the water...so it is always worth asking!!

Well as AB said, if nothing else it's practice. I thought I'd made a total hash of my interview, so I was more than surprised when they phoned me later the same day to offer me the job.

I have been in the opposite situation - absolutely aced an interview but I knew in advance that someone else was going to get the job. They didn't have the balls to tell me, it was only when I pushed for an answer I got the good news. I asked for a debrief interview so I could learn from my failings in the interview...that was interesting.

Not even going to talk about getting offered three separate jobs by Barclays Wealth and what happened next.....

I had feedback from 2 of the other 7 jobs that I applied for...

One said "unfortunately you are not the right fit for the position at this time"

The other complimented me on my CV but then said that they thought my "email address wasn't professional enough" and that there were "lots of skills on your CV that we don't need".

Ah well. You can't please them all....

Way way back, I used to like to take time off from techy stuff.. a sort of low brow sabbatical if you will..
After getting turned down loads of times I crafted a new CV, specifically to get a factory type job...
I went from hero to pleb in a few short pen strokes :)
I understand why they rejected me... Proly knew full well I would not get past 6 months of the work because of boredom ..
But it would give me a chance to recharge and re-energise the brain cells before moving onto the next project
18 months or so of rf related math and design can drain you !

Interesting point about your email address - links in with what I was saying about employers looking at social media profiles.

It's all about building a personal brand!!
