Interview

Today is being spent preparing for a job interview tomorrow.

I have my fingers crossed, legs crossed, in fact anything that can be crossed is crossed.

My presentation is ready, shoes shined, haircut done, travel arrangements sorted....

It has been many many years since I had to go to a formal interview, thinking about it, probably 1976 when I had my formal interview to join the Police, so I am starting to get a little nervous now.

Oh well, all I can do is give it my best...

Very best of luck with it.
Deep breaths and exhale slowly and evenly - above the plexus not below:D

Good luck @T.C
Dunno what the job is, but I know you present your self well, and are an eloquent orator so you are in with a good shot mate

Thanks John, much appreciated.

All I will say at the moment is that te job is nothing to do with legal, so it is a significant change in direction

Best of luck, TC. (y)

I had my first interview in 11 years and I thought that was bad enough..! Still, I got offered the job so it was worth it.

I'm sure you probably know most of this but having conducted a few (internal) interviews lately, Sit up straight but don't lean forward, take a breath before answering a question, if you need a little thinking time, take a sip of water (they should provide you with a glass & water) and when they've finished usually by asking you if you have any questions (and it's a good idea to have a few ready, avoid questions about remuneration), ask them if they have any further questions for you or need clarification on anything discussed.

Good luck

All of above.

Gen up on the business that you are being interviewed for.

I lost count of the number of fails I experienced when asking the interviewee what they knew about the business they desperately wanted to work for.

My last interview was only 28 years ago
Since then I have always been the interviewer... much more fun !
The only guaranteed fail was to start with 'I have a degree in'
Let them finish, ask for practical experience ( usually sweet FA ) and give em the dreaded 'we will let you know' before chucking the CV in the round file as they walk out the door !

LOL ! But there is a very serious side

In the real world where real physical things happen, person with lots of bits of paper who cannot do the job but expects the same pay as the next guy is a drain and I liability..
Perhaps in financial circles that is acceptable ..
just looking back at names like Kerviel, Hubler, Morgan, who lost billions .. and countless more who ended up dumping the whole world in fiscal turmoil.. people who ruined countless lives because they had a business degree but the brains of a week old cabbage
No doubt platitudes, reasons and excuses will be forth coming..
We had exactly the same in IT.
People that were employed on there bits of paper..
The tax office roll out that nearly closed the Country down
The DVLA roll out20 years ago they are only JUST recovering fully from
Me ? I never had to do that because people who got a job through me knew how to do what they were employed for !

I guess I got it just about right...dreadful secondary school education, got out as soon as I could into the real world, did A levels and then got a degree while doing a job in the real world, starting at the bottom.

On a more serious note, oh actually I am not going there.....
