A friend of mine visited NASA some years ago when the Shuttle was still operational, on seeing an chap in overalls (actually just a cleaner) he was told he was there “to help get our astronauts into space”

There is what is obviously a stage managed film clip of Nixon asking someone who is mopping the floor at NASA what his job was - the answer being ‘helping get a man on the moon’.

I watched a fabulous programme this afternoon which was essentially real time film of mission control with commentary by the+controllers in the current time (ie as elderly gentleman) overlaid (as opposed to some media celebrity who doesn’t even know what the moon is) - one of the interesting things I noticed (other than everyone was permanently chain smoking) was that there was not a single clack/Asian/Hispanic or female involved in Mission Control.

interestingly, the guy sweeping the floor in the Nixon clip was black.

How times have changed

There are now wimmins and ethnics involved in Mission Control.

The Human race has not been back to the moon.

I wonder if there is a connection.

The expression revamp comes from the shoe industry, it's to do with replacing the front of a shoe (vamp)

The reason nobody has been back is because they never went in the first place, they’ve realised they just about got away with the scam in 69 but they daren’t repeat it, you can fool all the people some of the time & you can fool some of the people all the time but you can’t fool all the people all the time.

Manchester United appointed a ‘set piece’ coach before this season started.

This season they have had 131 corners and failed to score from any of them.

I was in the crowd when ManU met Birmingham City and George Best scored direct from a corner.

I was outside Elland road when a police horse stood on a Spurs fan’s foot, it was funny seeing a thirty something bloke sobbing.

When I worked for a JCB distributor we used to encourage potential customers by offering them a tour around the factory. Rather than driving them there the bigger potential customers would be flown by corporate helicopter there and back. Almost nobody ever declined the ride, and all came back having placed orders.

Well apart from a couple, the pilot was used to doing a bit of low flying, probably thinking he was in ‘Nam and was up and down over hedges for a thrill ride

Until he crashed it! Oops!

Specially for Jaws this one :)

A Yank from Mildenhall has been very busy whizzing around Thetford today (around 18:30), sometimes over Thetford itself but mostly south of it.

F-15E using the call sign HOSS 21.

Why does Bonanza spring to mind!

Pablo Picasso was arrested on suspicion of the theft of The Mona Lisa when it went missing from The Louvre in 1913.

While entirely innocent of that crime, he was found to be in possession of figurines that had been stolen from The Louvre some time earlier. These are believed to have been the inspiration for his first modernist painting.

As an aside, a vast number of works of art were looted by the Nazis from The Louvre. Ironically many of them had been looted by Napoleon’s armies during his various campaigns around Europe.
