The hair of the dog

Apparently in the middle ages, if you were bitten by a dog, they caught the dog, removed some of it's hair and made a poultice from it, applied it to the wound believing it would help recovery

93% of the launch weight of Saturn V rockets (the ones that went to the moon) was fuel. The energy output during take off was greater than that on the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki, but not as great as that dropped on Hiroshima.

Apparently space rockets were designed based on width of rail car transporting them.
Railcars were first made by coach builders who built to same size as horse drawn coaches and coach width was based on the width of 2 horses arses.

Therefore rocket size is designed based on the width of 2 horses arses.

The Roman's were the ones to standardise using 2 horses, thereby setting the initial width.

Therefore the Romans were instrumental in space rocket design.

During the invasion of France the Allies dropped five hundred ‘imitation paratrooper‘ dolls that were less than three feet tall behind enemy lines to district and confuse the enemy. Upon impact a series of fire crackers were set off to replicate gunfire. It is believed that considerable enemy forces engaged with the false attack.

The dolls were affectionately called ‘Rupert’.

If you put a cucumber on the floor behind a cat and then attract the cat’s attention so it sees the cucumber the cat will jump in the air in panic.

Neil Armstrong managed to break the vital switch that controlled the ascent engine on the part of Apollo 11 that was to be used to propel the crew from the surface of the moon and commence the triumphant journey home.

NASA engineers spent 12 hours unsuccessfully trying to figure out how to bypass the vital switch. Buzz Aldrin, the second crew member, solved the problem by sticking a pen in the broken switch. It worked perfectly.
