If it's a CAT 994H, why does it have 998 on the side?

I really don't understand any of it.
The sums just do not add up.

Except for one thing...

All these people who are passing these laws that state no more combustion engines after 2035,
will have already lined there pockets and will no longer be in power by 2035.
But by pretending they're green they keep their highly paid jobs!

Bet every single one of them will have some sort of underhand interest in at least one of the companies that are
benefitting in the short term.

No more combustion engines, so what happens when somebody comes up with a proper answer to
hydrogen, that's a combustion engine!
Does that not stink of a law maker that doesn't want hydrogen to succeed?

Nope, it smells like a lawmaker who thinks about the next couple of years only and is busy lining their own pocket.

I've reported to a company finance manager who didn't like/bother with details preferring "best guess" on the basis that by the time anything negative might come of it either folks would have lost interest (sound familiar, politically?) or we'd have moved on anyway. :)

That's what I'm saying, probably investing in something that opposes the hydrogen route.

For how many years did we hear suggestions that the petrol companies were standing in the way of alternative fuels.

I don't know if there's any truth in this but I heard it somewhere a long time ago, before the likes of Shitbook existed so it wasn't Doris, that there are plenty of proper green alternatives to power cars but the oil majors buy the patents to stop them being produced.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

there are always alternatives….but one clear route needs to be taken.

Go back 100 years and the proportion of cars on the road were roughly equal - a third ish each internal combustion, steam and electric. New York had planning law in place to pit electric charging points in each new block built. Yes, 100 years ago.

Electric cars were marketed mainly to ladies for reasons that seem to have been lost in history, steam was hard work, dirty and required preparation well before a journey. So we ended up with ICE. And some numb nuts invented the Diesel engine.

I ran a Volvo S80 with factory fitted LPG for five or six years…that was awesome, half the price of unleaded and I couldn’t notice any difference when switching between the two. I believe the Only thing that came out of the exhaust was water. No idea why LPG never really caught on. It is still half the price of unleaded, albeit 99.9P per litre.

Didn't someone post that LPG was being banned?

I don’t know about banned, but LPG is getting increasingly difficult to obtain these days and many filling stations are getting the pumps removed. I have a filling point fitted to the motorhome to refill my 44 litre tanks, buying lpg this way rather than the typical Calor bottles is significantly cheaper - but you need to know where to get it, fortunately there are a couple of apps that can be used. Across the channel and it’s a bit easier - for now

I seem to recall that LPG vehicles weren't/aren't allowed on car ferries or the Chunnel?

Just looked it up.

Car ferries only if it's a car manufacturers version, as in no aftermarket versions.

Chunnel is a complete no!

Same should apply to electric cars.
If they go on fire........

We are always stopped at the Chunnel to ensure our gas bottles are turned off before we are permitted to travel. I believe that dual fuel vehicles (petrol/LPG) are not permitted to travel

When I had the Volvo we had to drive a few miles to fill up but darn in the sarf east it was generally pretty easy to find a pump. As youmsaynyhenapp makes it,easy.

Only time we got caught was travelling back from Manchester…every single service station on the motorway network that we used had run out…not much fun with a three litre motor and a four gallon reserve tank for unleaded :eusa_whistle:
