Roughly where black dot is
Doesn't work that way anymore.Looking at that I don't know how you not injured.
I'm sure a good ambulance chaser could generate a few complaints difficult to contest
Glad it’s getting sorted.Wee update.
after hearing zero info for the last 3.5 weeks while at sea, I’ve just phoned the underwriters (Markerstudy) and a payment has already been sent and bike is up for auction CAT N even though I hadn’t heard or agreed to anything.
The payout is 3800, my excess is 300 so 3.5k.
I paid 4K for bike and insured it for agreed value of 3800, so seems fair enough to me.
I could still of bought it back but I’ve a lot going on in my life right now so that’s why I didn’t. There is a lovely black one on Auto Trader right now for about 5.5, might go for that.
Still need to get payment for uninsured losses like helmet and jacket, but I’ve gotta do that through my broker apparently.
Yeah it’s dealer and I’d only offer 5. ‘Looks’ mint and has nice extrasGlad it’s getting sorted.
There is a 2007 on here for sale if you haven’t seen it. Certainly one I woukd be looking at if I were in the market. https://www.superblackbird.co.uk/index.php?threads/selling-my-2007-one-owner-bird.89122/
Personal opinion - i struggle To see any Bird being worth £5500, plenty good ones around for more sensible/realistic money.
How much to buy it back?Wee update.

In the end I didn’t ask. Not much I don’t think. How much to buy it back?
They are lying to you. It is down to the insurers to recover your uninsured losses. Broker can and will do diddly squat.Still need to get payment for uninsured losses like helmet and jacket, but I’ve gotta do that through my broker apparently.
Ok thanks TC, how should I approach them? Basically say you are lying? They are lying to you. It is down to the insurers to recover your uninsured losses. Broker can and will do diddly squat.
Simply tell them that it is their job to recover your uninsured losses not your brokers.Ok thanks TC, how should I approach them? Basically say you are lying?
Awesome thanks, forewarned is forearmed!Simply tell them that it is their job to recover your uninsured losses not your brokers.
Your broker in simple terms is just a sales outlet, they do not have a clue. Your insurers are handling the claim, it is part of their job unless your case is being handled by a solicitor (which we have already discussed) or a claims management firm in which case they should be up to the task if instigating the recovery of all your out of pocket expenses.
If they told you its your job, then they are just being lazy. Might be a case for the insurance ombudsman as insurers get fined for even having an unsubstantiated complaingt made against them and it can be heavy.
Worth bearing in mind
Interim payments are not unusual, they are just not usually applied for except in catastrophic or serious injury cases or where the value of the case is substantial and there is an ongoing case of hardship on the part of the claimant, so you were lucky as 18 month settlement is also a quick time frame, especially if you were still receiving treatment 18 months post crash. That suggests your claim although settled quickly was undervalued. She refused to accept any of the early offers of a settlement, she demanded and got, an interim payment as the case was going on for so long. This is an unusual step as most insurance companies just make you wait, and wait, and wait…..
Good luck with the claims handler.Awesome thanks, forewarned is forearmed!
Wow glad you recovered both physically and financially. Some years ago I had a crash in my car when a woman driver behind didn’t realise I was stationary and ploughed into me at 60+mph. It mashed my trailer, the bike I’d just purchased 12 hours earlier, and forced the trailer off the tow hitch into the rear of the car.
I ended up in hospital later that evening once the adrenaline had worn off and it was later discovered I had a slight fracture of C7 vertebra.
My lady lawyer who handled my ongoing case with the insurers was absolutely fabulous, she’d had a similar situation herself a few years earlier.

It took nearly 18 months to get it finalised, and the interim payment was a great help. My car was repaired good as new. My trailer was scrapped and I was allowed to select and buy a replacement (lots better, I’ve still got it - definite ‘betterment’ there) I was also permitted to strip and repair and get paid to do so my 1200 Bandit. I had 18 months of physiotherapy for my trapped nerve in my neck to relieve the pins and needles I was getting.
Finally I got a large cash settlement, which included payment for travel to and fro for everything related to the claim, also payment for when I was taking time off work for hospital and physio appointments.
I hope you have ‘legal’ as part of your insurance, I won’t be without it.
