Headlight Bulbs

I know BB bulbs are H7's, but I take it they only have one element in them, as the dip and main beam are seperate, does this mean they only have 2 spades on the back instead of the usual 3.

Want to replace mine with something brighter but do not want to go the 100watt route, any suggestions??

Yip! H7s have only 2 spades, and they plug into a holder, so dont throw it away.
I put 80w in mine for the main beem, some people use 100w thou dont know if the wiring will take 100w bulb.

Coddy, I've had a 100watt bulb in for nearly a year with no problems and it does give loads more light!
JAWS sells 'em for ?10, worth it!

Cheers Heavens, I know a lot of people rave etc about 100 watters, and have no doubts they work fine, but I always think at the back of my mind 'will the wiring take it?' Me being silly I know, but I wont have a tax disc disc holder on me brake bolts because the brake bolts were not designed to have any thing extra on them, so I was going to upgrade the bulbs to something a bit better, ie 50% brighter ones thet Halfords are doing at 2 for 1 prices

Codders........ I have 100W dip & main beam but i think i'll replace them with the PHILLIPS blue 50% better gubbins asap........

I'm not convinced that the dip should be fitted with 100W for the sake of my battery, wiring and reflector etc. At a push i may leave it in the main beam but definately changing my dip.

Has anyone gone the 'blue' light route, these seem rather trendy at the moment and apparently cast a clearer view, something to do with white light reflecting.... :dunno:

Dunno the details as such but i saw replacement H7's in Halfords a couple of weeks ago....It stated that the BLUE light is more penetrative and has a better field than the white. BMW use it and have done for many many years so they cannot be that bad.

Have just been into Halfords and the 2 for 1 offer no longer on, the BLUE bulbs are ?17.99 each, BUT most of the extra light/power bulbs are marked up 'Off road use only' So why I asked them are they selling them, knowing full well they will be used on the road, the answer? 'They sell, we make profit' So now all the cages will be fitting em and we get lost in the glare!!

Bulbs!

All I can add, is that when changeing the bulb, get a child or small-wristed female to change the bulb for you!
When I replaced mine, it looked like I had tried to slash my wrist with a blunt bit of plastic!
Jaws did warn me, it's a tight fit!

Oh yes I do... HID on the dip, fooking amazing, transforms the darkest night into the brightest day - 1200Pete sells and fits them, or you can fit it yourself if you're not as stupid as me... not cheap but if you do a lot of night and mountain riding you'll be a happy bunny!

Worry not Coddy - unlike the the warp drives on the Enterprise - the wiring will take it!

I've had 100's in both beams for 18 months/two years now without probs. The extra loading is not much (45 watts for each), and is well within the capability of the wiring.

I'm fairly certain others have had 'em longer than me too.
