I have to say that since July I became a traffic cop, (pro bikers before you slag me off) I spend every day dealing with death, carnage and fast cars. I'm pleased to say that I have only dealt with one death of a biker and he was drunk. It has frightened me to see the amount of total knobs there are out there on our roads. The RTC's that I have been to involving bikes are all down to filtering through heavy traffic travelling too fast and not able to react when a knob changes lane without looking. I for one have slowed down now and I can't stress extra training such as bike safe.

Got my name down already and might even look at IAM when I get more time.

Baz, when you do your IAM, check out the club that you do it with. My local group are called Thames valley Advanced in Wokingham Berks. Although I found the members great down to earth people, I found some of the people running total tossers. To join I went out on an assessment ride with their new member assessor. I didn't tell them I was a police biker for years as I believe feedback can be a good thing no matter what level you are at. The guy that took me out was a major hazard. He followed me for 40 mins and the feedback he gave was total bullsh*t. I had to argue with him and prove him wrong on every point. He then admitted he found it difficult to keep up with me which I found strange as I'm not quick anymore around the lanes, and he asked where I had learnt to ride a bike. When he found out he got me to follow him back. I hung back from him twice as I thought he was going to have a head on overtaking on a left bend and he flew into a 30 pushing 80. I couldn't believe they let this bloke assess others. I felt like putting him in the book for being a twat. I don't know where you are in the UK but if you are anywhere near me in Berkshire, I'd be glad to ride with you. PS I have a set of comms for teaching DAS.

Thanks for that :yo: What I will probably do is get the guys from Bike Safe to recommend the best one for me in my area. I am in Rutland but local Bike safe team are from Lincoln.

We all think we are good and safe riders but we dont all have the best powers of anticipation and thats what I would like to improve as well as my observation.
That sounds good coming from someone that used to be trusted with escorting Nuke Convoys all over this country !!

French, I didn't. I cover from Denham to East Acton up to J4 M1 so I would only get as far as Hampstead. Thats covered by Euston garage I believe. Hope they were'nt hurt. At lot of fast traffic around there and quick filtering. I did pick a pizza boy up tonight though, he did an illegal right and got took out by a car. Made a mess of the pizza.I was starving.

Was asking because... that was me you'd have picked up, and I can't remember what happened just before the crash (retrograde amnesia) and was hoping you could shade a light on the event if it had been you - thanks anyway, and next time, save some pizza!
