New Lid

I'm on my 3rd helmet in 6 yrs: 1st was el cheapo AGV, then a new N-90 Xlite (Nolan) that lasted 4 yrs, and now a flipup Nolan N100 that cost half the Schuberth, weighs less by quite a margin, and gets good reviews.

There are 2 new flip helmets just about to come on to the market. The update of the Nolan N100 is the N101 (logical progression) and has a slightly longer flip front so catches less on the chin, removable lining and has a new aerofoil shape. UK list is about ?180 and is in silver, tungsten, metallic blue and white.
Also comes with the pinlock anti-mist visor fitted in.
The other new model will be the Schuberth C2, an addition to the existing concept and has been designed to be the quietest flip on the market with a rating of 85dB at 60mph. Both of these Schuberths easily take Autocomm equipment and the wires can be hidden out of the way. Availability will be about April time but price is not yet fixed. The Nolan has a 5 year warranty and the Schu 3 years.
When buying a flip helmet ask the shop to tell you if it passed EC2205 as a full face or as an open face helmet. On some models the flip has no protection whatsoever and if you are buying it for chin protection then you need to know this.

Well..............

Just had a look at the Lazer website.....and those of us using the Revolution Flip are OK. It has been tested to EC 2205, so passes the same tests as a conventional full-face lid.

Cheers for the spec number Aidey !!!!

Just trying to help Supabird! There is a lot of crap out there and if any one wants to keep their chin in the event of an off, just be careful what you buy. I have to be careful as I work for the distributor of Nolan/X-lite helmets and what I don't want to do is be a salesman on this site. I am happy to give info but it is just my opinion, nothing else!

lids!

 I've had various lids and just bought a Roof Daytona.

:lick: BEST Bone-Dome I've had so far! Light weight, good ventilation, excellent visor and V.Good at keeping wind noise out.
Went up to Edinburgh from Norfolk and was well impressed with the lid.
I'm a lanky-git (6' 3") so me head is always getting blown about, if you know what I mean!?

BUT, it is all down to what fits tight and comfortable, best advice is try 'em on!

Happy Hunting! :yo:

Lids

I have a Shoei Raid the same as the wife. The only problem I can see is if you want to fit and Autocom type system as many lids will not take to having head sets fitted.
Zippo.

Hi,

I have the Shoei XR1000. Very comfy, wouldn't say it is as quiet as I was lead to believe Shoei lids were, but OK. I have fitted autocom system and am having problems getting the speakers in a comfy position. It takes the ears of me putting it on and taking it off :bang:. I wear a neck tube over my ears now. It is OK for a Sunday run, but 12 - 14 days on a tour it may be a pain.

Cheers Paul

I found the most comfortable helmet to be a Bieffe, but I am well pleased with the Caberg Justissimo flip up that I am currently using it even has the internal sun visor which is very handy

The BEST lid in the world is currently the X-Spirit

BOLLOCKS!!!!

The best lid in the world is the one that fits your head correctly, read somewhere last year that about 85%(i think) of lids are the wrong size, poor fitting etc etc.

At H.G.'s opening in Liverpool they had an Arai helmet service point outside, what wolfie says appears to be true and borne out by the guy with Arai, he did all types of helmet not just Arai, he said the majority of problems that people had were not caused by the helmet, they were caused by it's ill fitting or wrongly sized for that person. A couple came out from the H.G. shop with their just purchased lids and were sent back in by this guy to get the correct sized lid. It's the shop assistants that need educating in how to fit a helmet properly and not just think about the sale! :bang:
