Fun at Asda

At my local Asda there are two spaces designated for Motorbikes, I just called there and there were cars parked in both of them, there was a driver in one of the cars who reversed out and moved to let me in,
When I came out of Asda there was a Renault Kangoo with a bloke in the drivers seat and a kid in the back, he had parked with the drivers door less than a foot from my handlebar, I tapped on the window and politely asked him to move as I needed to turn my bike round, he replied "Yeah ok" then just sat there, so I again asked him to move he wound the window down and gave me a load of verbal abuse, so after pointing out what a wonderful example he was setting to his kid I then told him if he didn't move I would let his tyres down. so he carried on giving me abuse so I went to his back tyre and began letting it down, guess what? he moved, as I was turning my bike around a woman who had just got out of her car went over to him and gave him a rollocking I heard her say "If you cant read that that space is for Motorcycles then you shouldn't be driving. result. :p

Nice one.

But dont get me going about Asda. The local one near to me in the north of Preston has just had a huge extention. They have put it on what was part of the car park. But they now have more parking spaces. Only problem is all these spaces are now 12 inches narrower. It quite entertaining watching people trying to get in them. People are always getting their cars scratch/bumped on there now.

I have also wondered, why do people who cant reverse a car alway reverse into parking spaces????

At least Asda do provide motorcycle parking places.... have to say I've never had a problem using the one's at our Asda and they're actually just about the nearest parking to the store as well.

However they did build a nice new multi-storey last year but whoever designed it it must drive a noddy car. The spaces are so small that I have to find an almost empty floor to avoid getting the doors damaged by other drivers ....grrr... but the they made the ramps that go floor to floor so steep that almost every car scrapes on the floor.

Best of all to start with the turning points into the ramps were so tight that the parked cars were getting bashed all the time and the only way round was to go back/fowards to line up with the ramp - brilliant bit of traffic calming - not!
They tried to solve that by putting some armco in..... that just meant almost nothing could get past the ground floor...... in the end they had to remove the armco and the parking places nearest the turns and re-route the way through the floors - but they still havn't been able to move some of the concrete pillars so you still get poor numpty's hitting the posts.

The other bit of genius is that to reach the multi-story entrance you first have to get past the cars queing for the limited outside parking.... will they get of of the way when it's full......oh no.....traffic ends up queued back to the road blocking the traffic going past Asda.
Even saw the car park peeps standing in front of the entrance to the outside car park waving 'em into the multi-storey with a sign blocking the road saying outside park full.... despite shouting and waving the nerds still just sat in the road!!!!

when you come back to find your door dented you will only have yourself to blame then!! as people with kids in the back often have to open their doors all the way to access the kids, which is why they and the disabled are put separate from supposedly fit people such as yourself, unfortunately as "some" people are too ignorant/thick to work that out, often these "special" places are full so they go damaging the "normal" drivers cars, all for the sake of the lazy driver not wanting to walk that extra few feet!! :dunno:

So how did we manage before they invented parent/toddler spaces?
by all means provide parent/toddler spaces but put them furthest from the supermarket cos the kids are gonna be pushed in their buggies so they haven't any walking to do, also parents with toddlers usually aren't in a great hurry unlike people who rush into the supermarket for something en-route.

I dont take a buggie in to the supermarket, my daughter walks from the car to the trolley bays where she is made to sit in the trolley, (Some what begrudgingly), while we do the shopping. Moving the bays further away dont help either as we're trying to control a full trolley and a wayward two year old! Actually it dont make any difference where the bays are cos no one can read when tey are parking up, Parent and child space, disabled space, their all fair game! In fact I have now started to do my shopping online as I detest these places at this time of year cos its full of arseholes who cannot cope with the fact that the supermarket will be closed for a day or two so they have to stock up with bread and milk incase they run out!

What next, banning disabled people from shopping? Derek, fuck off will ya or failling that shut up till you can actually make a meaningful contibution to a conversation.

But why do mother and toddler spaces have to be right at the front of the supermarket, what a fine example to set to the youngster, they got fecking legs, put there spaces elsewhere and use those spaces for more disabled.

I never park in a disabled space, and I will berate any able bodied person who does.

By meaningful contribution do you mean one that agrees with you? how very egotistical and typical of the selfish attitude displayed by many of these pro parent/toddler spaces

So you don't take a buggy into the supermarket, there are trolley bays all over the car parks so no need for your child to walk at all. my point & I believe it to be a meaningful and valid one is why the F*ck should you have preferential treatment just because you have young children?

Oh and FWIW my wife is unable to work due to an as yet undiagnosed ailment with her legs, some days she finds walking very difficult, she has been like this for four years, but she doesn't claim disability and she doesn't park in disabled spaces.

sore point me?? yep, but not how you meant it!! :dunno: see I was the person got his car damaged by a "parent" slamming the kids door open, and the only reason she was there was because all the "bad driver/parent and kids" bays were full of lazy twats cars, and I also park in the parent and kids spot when I can, as getting Elizabeth out can be difficult without opening the door all the way and I DON'T like to damage other peoples cars, if the spaces were moved further away I would still use them, :dunno: as has been pointed out the bad parking and narrow spaces certainly don't help keep your own car "damage free" :dunno:

My local Sainsbury's have recently expanded and re-designed the carpark, and renamed the 'Mother & Baby' spaces, "Parent and Baby" spaces - so as not to be accused of being sexist I'd presume......... they've got a couple of guys contantly patrolling the car park and if anyone parks in a "parent and baby" space without a car-seat in the car they are slapped with a ?30 fine, same goes for the disabled spaces.

most of the time its private land Sam!! so how do they expect to get the cash?? do they "clamp"?? :dunno:
another one I "like" is where the car park for the supermarket is full, you go into the store and theres half a dozen coustomers, all the rest of the car owners have gotten on the train and gone to work, leaving their cars in the free carpark all day!!

I don't bother with the parent and child spaces usually cause I can carry the little un till I get to the trolleys and the other one can walk but when the wifes on her own I think any help she can get is great. I don't care where they put them it's jugggling the kids in and out of the car thats the main thing.

Ignorant twats that can't see this get right on my nerves. There are plenty of spaces usually without having to take ones that are put there for a reason be it to help the disabled, stressed out parents or poor motorcyclist (which mostly near the front of the stores too).
Derek I understand what your saying but if she's entitled to a badge and any benefits she should take them, thats what they're there for.

Our Asda does the same..... lots of notices up saying it's a civil enforcement scheme....don't know how it operates though. Presume they get registered owner details from DVLC and issue fine and follow up through small claims court??

Train car parking (I spoonerised that first time and wrote carp pratting!)... that's a raw nerve with me. Our local station actually has free parking and they tried to encourage train use. I started to use it 'cause although the journey was slightly longer it cost about the same and I could relax, read the paper, get a breakfast snack and coffee while changing trains and the journey was less stressfull. Problem was some kids seemed to think it was amusing to lob stones into the station car park. After having to replace the rear window on my last car as a result and seeing lots of other cars get the same treatment I couldn't afford to keep using the train.... urghhh

Catch 22 for the railways..... won't spend money on security as not enough peeps using the station..... more peeps won't use it while cars get damaged..... even if kids get caught bugger all would happen to 'em anyway.... so trains get less used, road congestion/pollution gets worse and eventually I suppose the local station will close (it's not staffed other than peak times now).

all the above seem to ME to be an argument for bringing back the Birch!! not fatal but painful at the time cheap to administer and "may" discorage the little darlings, how often have we been moaning theres no deterrant etc?? perhaps bringing one back is the answer?? cos fuck all else seems to be working :dunno:
