Question: I've had my first "bird" for just over 2 weeks and have been riding fairly conservatively ( honest, officer!!). At present I seem to be getting around 110 miles to a tank of fuel. Is this about right or do I need to get it looked at? Any advice?

Hi

welcome to the site, It depends a lot on the age of your bike and stuff like that, ie as it gets a few miles on it the mpg tends to improve, is yours an older carbed version or the later injected model? there have been many threads on this subject and your answer may be there, if you click on to the search area of this site you will be able to have a good shufty around, My bike is a 99 injected with 26000 on it and I get about 130 to 140 to the light going on, 20 to 30 more than I used to, others get more and a few a bit less, :dunno:

Miles on a tank

Erm there might be something wrong with my bike! Mines a 99 (T) and I get 190miles out of a tank!! (Mind you I get 120miles out of the first half and only 70 out of the second half!:dunno: )

I do a 3 hour commute twice a week - mostly motorway so steady 85mph

Cheers

Maybe not

99 T FI this tank now 175 with just a smidge to the light, maybe 10 miles. (To refill at the light is 19.2 litres ish.) Most of that was two up but with only one brisk spell of about 20 miles.

Can,t be bad.:}

Around 300 k's with a centrestand fill (185 miles) before I start panicing.

Now you've got the answer and get about the same as most other riders, forget about fuel consumption, it's a 'bird you're riding! Mopeds are for people who want economy, hehe.

Cheers and welcome to a great international comunity!

Just as we are all different so are our bikes(exhausts, jets, filter etc)

normally get 160 for 18/19L of gogo juice, but have been down to 110 or as high as 195 (very slow boring ride with slow boring person)

agree with judge does improve with mileage. Think Jaws owns the top mileage from a tank full that i know off , but i ain't telling what he got.(far too embrassing)

You guys should be doing better with the bigger tanks on the fuel injected model, I would think.

I have the carbed version and got 185 last night on 4.6 gallons (that's 40 mpg).

The Fi ones haver bigger tanks to kept the range about the same because they drink more, are slower, have crap clocks, silly stickers and the most ugly rear light ever made.:f :f :f

Fuel efficiency .......

Just done my first 'calibrated' consumption figure ('03FI 300miles on the clock, 4 days old!).

Got 171 miles, on 17.9 litres (centre-stand fill to brim down to flashing light) and the trip was mostly at 95kph - 125kph. Occassional burst of 130 - 160kph, mostly on dual carriagway, few roundabouts. (Still watching the revs!)

That's about ........... errrrrrrrrm ????? (Gets calculator out .....)

43.4mpg !! Brill - pleased with that!

Just filled up today..

18 L exactly... ... 167 miles, most on a long run, 80 to 90 mph .. some town centre traffic.

Not bad... but I cant be bothered to work out the MPG.

Mines got 33,500 on 't' clock. carbed.

:p
