Thanx for all the info, people! On a recent trip to Hitchin (200m round trip), 2 up, kept the revs mostly below 5,500 and returned 170 miles to a tank!!! So i'm satisfied that it's not a bike problem.
Just had an awesome day at WSB Brands this sunday!! Any one else go? Shame Xaus's bike didn't break in the 2nd race as well, would have been nice to see Hodgson lift the title in Britain. Looks like a trip to Assen is on the cards!!!!!:yo:

I can't resist but I've gotten up to 46 MPG on my '98 and that's with the Akrapovic exhaust w/ jet kit. :neenaw: I was doing a lot of slow cruising in the 60-70 MPH range that day. I normally get 40-41 MPG commuting back and forth to work and routinely hit triple digits on those jaunts. :m

Blackbirds are quick...

at burning juice.
I dont know how to say this guys but my T/Ace kept to legal speeds returns 56.8mpg thats a tank range(20ltr) of 250 miles!

My average over 10,000 miles is 50.3mpg range 221 miles. For those that have ridden with him my typical pace matches Mikew.

Looks like I made a good choice:}

Hey Wolfie
Have you calculated your average mpg? What is it? How many miles can your bike do between fuel stops? I KNOW my Ace can easily do 200 miles before i start to look for fuel stations. And yes one of the lads I know with an ace does 120 miles max on a tank but while he blows me into the weeds I am actually quicker than he is because he stops for fuel more frequently.
Both the Blackbird and the Ace are sports / tourers and I dont want to get into an argument as to which is the best because we are only going to disagree.

errrr no, 165miles per 18 litres, not arguing, consistently will always beat rush and stop.

don't mind the ace but found the engine vibrated too much and the seating position was not right for me, did like the brakes.

not arguing, just want to know who stole my 65 miles:neenaw: :neenaw: :neenaw:

My Fazer does 51 mpg trotting to work and back, mainly duel carriageway at between 70/90 mph. This gives over 200 tank range, the other sat I took her out and thrshed the knacks off of her and got 130 per tankful

I think BB's should/could be a little better on juice, they give similar power to my Fazer (130ish at rear wheel) are more aerodynamic and have fuel injection, which really should make it more efficient??

My first ride last week was 130 miles till bar flashing, yesterdays was a little better 148 till flashing. This is mainly back roads where you are on/off the throttle regularly, christ knows how low this will be if I give her some stick (pending)

I have done a lot of miles this year with three other guys. We have a Triumph Trophy, a Triumph Tiger and of course my Ace. These three do similar mpg figures, the Trophy also has the luxury of a 22 or 24 ltr tank which gives him a huge range. The other guy we ride with has a FVR750 which needs to stop every 150 miles for fuel.

I just find it odd that Honda didnt sort out the consumption and fit a bigger tank to what was an out and out touring bike. BTW how much is left in reserve when the fuel light comes on? Mine has a full gallon so when the light comes on at about 170-180 miles I know I have 50 miles left in the tank.

Don't seem a lot of difference to me between my 01 FI Bird and my 02 1200 Trophy (carbed) both seem to get about 160 - 170 average till either the light comes on on the bird or I have to switch over onto reserve on the Trophy which I might add is ferkin scary when you are Two up in the outside lane in the dark on the M6 as the motor starts to die and you have to fumble for the petrol tap. Which incidentally you are supposed to turn to prime first to get some perol back into the carbs before you go onto reserve and some twat in a cage is sat on your back light. Passing a 42 tonner who was looking at us and must have been a biker as we pulled in front of him and he did a rolling block for us till we got all four cylinders back! Cheers buddy whoever you were.

If the bike is new expect about 120 - 130 b4 the light comes on.. as time goes by this will increase. Peaking at about 10K miles on the clock.
I regularly exceed 200 miles to a tank full, but the last 20 or so miles are normally done with held breath and a certain amount of praying to the wind god to blow in the right direction !
