WHY :dunno:

MP3 , CD, TUNER ETC ETC

ok here goes...

i have a massive sound system in most cars i get..not the volvo yet as its bloody 8ree! it can wait a few months.....
when its on i cant here ferk all outside of the car..
been nearly caught out a few times by police, ambulance etc tearing up the wrong side of the road with the blues and twos on..but of course a i cant hear them so almost had a few accidents over it %$fan ..its a risk im happy to take.....

why oh why do some of you use mp3, cd's etc on your bike with headsets :dunno:
its something i would never do as i like to hear whats going on around me and also listen for strange noises from the bike etc..ok if im on a motorway run long distance ill use earplugs..but they dont stop all the noise and you can still hear a fair bit around you

so the question is.....WHY do you use yours :dunno:

I'd say it's best to have all your senses available when driving, I e hearing, eyesight and so on.

I couldn't give a toss what you think of me !
and others are free to express their opinions whenever they want !
it just amazes me that you think your act of having the volume so loud that you are unable to hear a bloody siren is of a normal sane adult ?

I realise everyone has a right to post what they choose, and I always promised myself not to get involved in your wacky and odd submissions reefer, but on this occasion.....

....... as you were looking for other opinions I think you're a pratt too. Not only a pratt, but a danger as well. Surely you're not being serious, are you??

I understand it's a risk YOU are prepared to take..... but what about others on the road who might not want you to not hear them?? Haven't you any regard for them..? Apparently not! That's what helps in making it so dangerous out there.

.. Do they simply not count in your book?? JHC... :bang:

In answer to the origional post.....

I enjoy listening to a little music when either driving or riding...

I have the volume at a reasonable level so I can hear both whats coming through the speakers/headset and whats going on in the outside world.

If you have your music up that loud, you are effectively deaf to the outside world...

I believe you asked what you should do if you knew of someone who was effectively blind and still driving.....

I reckon on a personal level they are one and the same thing.....

One sense missing when you really need them all..

But thats only my own opinion, and as you say, you are entitled to your own.

But would you hear the bike coming up alongside you (even with race cans) with your music on THAT LOUD ?????

I think you answered your own question really.

Sorry if thats not the answer you wanted, but thats the one I would give.

Cheers Simon,

Rolfy

well when i first made this post i hadnt actuly thought about listening to the mp3 at a lower level (flame suit repaired and ready) silly i know but there you have it :bang:

even so..it must still distract you somewhat from road awareness..things going on about you etc to some degree

this wasnt supposed to be a look at me i have a loud system..admitly looking back it may have come over that way..it was just meant to be a question to peeps that use them on bikes

on the same note..(triple flame suit ready for this one) ill happly go out of the door in the mornings after being up for an hour and still not fully awake and drive to work..im not talking asleep at the wheel here just taking time to get going so to speak...

on the other hand if im using the bike ill make sure that hour becomes one and a half hours and ill have some sort of breakfast and a couple of cups of coffee to "get going" a bit quicker

i guess its about feeling safer in the car and vunerable on the bike

there you go..even more confused %$fan

SO...JUST TO RECAP.............

seeing as only a few people have replied in a constructive manner.....

might as well get onto the "pratt" subject.....

so... if i was sitting at a junction waiting to turn right..volume right up..lights change i start to turn..ambulance comes tearing up behind me on the wrong side of the road..and whichever way you want to look at it i turn he hits me..or i turn and hit him..im a "pratt"

correct??......

so if deaf person is driving the car..then are they still a pratt

or are all deaf people that drive justs pratts
case rested
