10 March 1945. Avro Lancaster JB228 of 1668 Heavy Conversion Unit, Fiskerton. On cross-country sortie port outer engine failed. Returned but swung off runway and undercarriage collapsed. Badly damaged and burnt. All 8 crew survived, 2 wounded.

Ju87 c-1 carrier version. Never got past the prototype…possibly as the Nazis didn’t have any aircraft carriers and the Japanese didn’t have many after Midway. That and low range, underpowered and virtually defenceless. Extremely strong undercarriage would have probably worked well though.

At the pre Kemble Airday party many years back we were talking to a young lad who looked to be about 16, when he said he’d better get off as he was flying in the morning. When we asked him what he was flying he turned out to be the Eurofighter Typhoon pilot!

Programme on one of then sky channels about Lynott this week some time.

Thin Lizzy we’re clients at the first bank branch i worked at - had a few socials with some of them and their crew. Live and Dangerous launch comes to mind. Messy.

Saw Lynott on his way home at Leicester Square tube station a few times …I was going in the opposite direction to work As it was around 8am….
