My girlfriend said "get rid of the car and get a blackbird", so I did. Best move I ever made. Now run around in a 10 year old 'free' car from the parents when I need to carry furniture etc.

Used to drive a sporty(ish) Pug XSi with all the trim and alloys etc, but still sat in the traffic for up to 45 mins each way to work and back. Now do the trip in 15-20 min regular as clockwork on the BB

:yo: :yo:

Pretty much the same here. I had a MR2 Turbo when I got the BB. Then I realised I was only using the car to go to work (4miles) so I flogged it and bought a shed of a Mondeo. If I take to the road for enjoyment it's on 2 wheels.

I've had

loads of weird and wonderfull motors including Yanks, turbo's, V8's :lick: and 4X4's but the BB is the only thing that makes me smile every time i venture out even 16months on. I drive a ?800 Mondeo estate when i have to, its green and has a towbar, full of dog hair and McDonalds wrappers and biscuit crumbs............i hate it with a passion yet cannot part with it 3 yrs on.
I like something functional not hairdresser like, the MONDEO gets crap to the tip, takes me to work, onto the farm for a shoot and i can park it anywhere and not worry.
The bike is my fun, it has to be clean, in perfect running order, i won't leave it out of sight for long, it carries us across continent, through town and WILL KICK THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR SKYLINE man8um

PAH! Not exactly difficult is it!

Saw a programme t'other day, aussie one I think. Whole bunch of loons with modded skylines. Bit that caught my eye was a 360bhp skyline Vs Gixxa 750, (from what I saw of the bike this was a 03 but stock). Bike won, obviously. it was a 1/4 mile straight. There was only 3 seconds in it mind, gixxer hit 121, datsun hit 138!! Got me thinking, weight of a bird, approx 225kg. Puts out 160bhp at crank, (Stock), approx 149 at rear. I reckon that on a track a well modded skyline COULD keep pace, if not beat a blackie.

Lets face it, the birds a great bike but its just that, a bike. Its a lardy arsed lump too. The cage has 4ws and 4x4, in the twisties I honestly think it will out perform a bird. But then, a well ridden 600 will run rings round an averagely ridden 1100 anyhoo.......

cat...pigeons....touchpaper...naked flame.......slamming door!

Not just the Bird Bubba ......any bike

the outright lap record on every major circuit worldwide is held by 4 wheels not two ..........Shoe maker lapped Welkom 30 seconds under Rossis lap record, touring cars lap circuits signifigantly quicker than Superbikes and production class cages lap circuits quicker than production bikes ..........

Laws of physics really bikes just can't put enough rubber on the track to equal the G forces pulled by cages through corners.

In a straight line a family hack such as a Mondeo or Santogen would have ot output 1000 BHP to equal the power to weight of a Blackbird ..........

Skylines are tuneable to around 1050 BHP and the engines hold together.

$%3un R#?

Saw it...... Some decent kit out there, some of those 'rice burners' can boogie when pumped full of nitrous.
Some of the stuff was crap though, my stock 383 ROADRUNNER was hitting high 12's on 'GRABBER' tyres and it weighed 2 ton.
The skilled drivers of these SKYLINES etc are into a new craze called drifting which entails having the rear end stepped out continually around a set course..... I was drifting 3ltr GRANADA's and 2ltr ESCORTS back in 1990 thats how 'NEW' this craze is. I didn't have anywhere near the power but the skill level was up there. It started with a standard Mk1 'SWEENY' Granada manual, out with shocks and springs at the read and solid mount the rear end  then weld the planet gears in the diff so it was a direct drive with NO diff then put 40psi in the the rear tyres and steer it on the throttle. The speed in which i could do the oval circuit with the car set like that was a vast difference to standard. Ya don't need 800bhp to have a laugh,, just a bit of tweeking in the drive train and remove brain.......140 bhp V6 manual and a sensitive throttle foot.

:lick: GET ONE! :lick:
Best 4 wheel fun I've had! Sold my Escort Cosworth (300bhp) and bought a R33 GT-R VSPEC (350bhp). Got them both 'tuned' at Grahame Goode Racing in Leicester, supreme cornering and great fun! - There isn't really any need to tune the R33, they are pretty quick in standard trim.
c7u8 The down-side was, that it begged to be DRIVEN and after 10 months, (clocking up a few points), I sold it and bought another B'Bird and an old 3ltr BMW.
At the end of the day, it was a lot of fun and had to be done! R#?
