What Andy says.@tu*

I am a member of other forums which are free. I choose to sponsor them also. I think that the money paid is a fraction of the money I would have otherwise spent attempting to fix problems without the advice freely given.

Not picking on slimey but, to use him as an example, how much money would he have spent unnecessarily attempting to sort his bird out? A lot more than £10 I would imagine.

The cost of hosting forums is not insignificant and along with advertising revenue, sponsorship goes to pay for these costs. I doubt JAWS has retired on the money he receives from bikersoracle.

Ummmmm..
Considering the only things I have ever had out of B O is a t shirt and a fleece ( given to me as I helped out on a B O stand at a show ) I think that statement is somewhat more than accurate !!! LOL !!!

Of course the BIG upside is that we do have a home, we do not have any adverts, and in general the software is pretty stable.

All revenue goes to Bikers Oracle Ltd..

If the parasites don't want to sponsor can a pay per view option be added?

Perhaps those who wish not to sponsor should only be allowed to see Dirk's and Andybird's posts.p0pc0rn41

I am proud to support this site financially as it is my only means of having friends, even if they are only made from pixels.;-0))

If it should ever fall over because of lAck of financial support (and I have Absolutely no insight into this) then it would be terribly sad.

Ye shall reap what he shall sow.

Again, if Keith and co want to change their business model to sponsorship only, I may decide to sponsor. However, that isn't their business model - yet.

Interestingly, for someone who can be quite sensitive of what is written at times, I'm somewhat surprised that you want to throw accusations that certain users of the forum are parasites, a derogatory term.

:dunno:

Fair comment. Ish.

It just seems so uncool to spend at least half the day on here gratis. Amazing how touchy some of the non-sponsors are as well.........;-0))

I'm not sure it is deragatory by the way. Factual - yes, deragatory debatable.

Maybe the simple way to look at it is - has this site saved you money/time over the years by way of technical advice? If the answer is 'yes' then the right thing should be done.

Either way, I suppose I will keep on sponsoring to keep the leeches (is that better?) somewhere to go.:-0)

Absolutely. Personally when a banker calls me a parasite, I wear that badge as a badge of honour. :-0)

in fairness to me I will be a 'consultant' when I go back post not retiring.

Oh bugger, that's not any better is it:eek:

I'm not touchy - I have nothing to be touchy about. Bikers Oracle Ltd is a commercial venture and make decisions on a commercial basis. I would have thought you would have understood that?:dunno:

According to the English Oxford Dictionary parasite is a derogatory term.;-0))

Not my understanding of the Oxford Dictionary

Leech:

A person who extorts profit from or sponges on others:

Pretty sure I don't do that - out of interest what do bankers do for a living?

I tried leaches once, on my feet. Felt weird, a bit like a drunk bird with a rough tongue trying to take your skin off

Personally I think the sponsorship money's worth it for the sheer entertainment value alone that this forum gives. I've got membership of various forums for stuff other than the Blackbird but this one is far and away the best one.

I've followed (and occasionally contributed to) threads on this forum that have left me angry, sad, thoughtful, reflective and plenty of times with tears streaming down my face from laughing.
I can't think of another forum that gives that amount of entertainment and I can well understand why so many stay on here even without a Bird or a bike at all.

Oh, and there's also the small matter of help and advice on all things Blackbird.

?15 sponsorship = 2 tickets to the flicks and 2 hours entertainment.

Bit of a no-brainer really. :bang:

andybird .........with no response to my question I must assume that in your opinion anyone who does not pay for the privilege of using this site is a parasite or now a leech ...correct?

Is this despite it being an open site that can be viewed without being signed in or even being a member ?

Kind of puts a spoke in the wheel regarding information gained from here I think :-0)

At least some of us parasites contribute by telling you when you are being a bit of a pratt 8rfl@

do you know what , it's not the on off badgering that's likely to sway a decision on whether to sponsor or not (although as sated previously I would prefer an anonymous option) but the cold hard facts from the last set of accounts
