What’s the problem with ID cards? I had to carry mine at all times when I lived in Singapore, which was never a problem as I never went anywhere without my wallet. They’d certainly weed out illegal immigrants.
I’ve never had any issue with the concept of ID cards as I have nothing to hide.

I think they're a fantastic idea. They weed out genuine people with nothing to hide from the illegal immigrants that are bleeding the country dry, not to mention criminals.

So I don't need to renew the photo card?
Still have a pristine paper license.
It was not (if I remember?) obligatory to
have the card when they first appeared.
Everyone at the time thought it was another Brussels money making directive.
Which it was.
if you have a photo card you do have to renew it even if you still have your paper one

Crafty beggars, we moved house in January & went online to change address on our licenses, we have three years left before the ten year renewal date, it asked us if we wanted to update this at a cost of £10 each, feck that, I’m getting my full ten years that I’ve paid for.

At least they got rid of you back to Wales :)

I have no problem with carrying an ID card, like anyone else on here who has served in the Forces, we were required to.
The only thing I won't agree to is enforcement.

If you lost your ID card (the F1250) in the RAF then you were fined. I remember £25 was the going rate, which was a decent night's drinking in the pub in the 80's. That's fine for HM Forces but you'll never get the majority of civvies to agree to that. The easiest way to get people to accept it is to make it compulsory for certain things. e.g. buying alchohol. That way most folk will get into the habit of carrying it most of the time.

The ID card debate falls under the same nonsensical debate about the NHS track and trace app, I don't have any problems with either, and I've found those that do object often carry around other forms of ID and have apps on their phones from various websites that track their every move :couch:

Come to think of it as I often get lost, I wish there was an app tracking my every move then I could give them a ring and say do you know where I am? as I don't

I feel it only fair to point out that Jet2 don't allow passengers with dodgy ankles to travel :)
