Sort of following on from my post about my mental health, I realised that over the past few years I've closed myself off. To protect myself I built a very high wall.

So, I'm pushing myself to be more open, and tolerant. Last sunday I went out for a ride with my brother and a couple of his mates breaking 2 of my rules, not to ride on a Sunday or with people I dont know. It was shit but I did it.

Today I'm going to a well known cafe in Leominster, so put a post on a couple of Facebook biker groups and I'm, now, not going on my own.

I hope my patience and tolerance holds up!
It can be a good thing spending time with people you don’t know. I occasionally play golf with a fella that I met at the golf club, we don’t plan it in advance but if our paths happen to cross we go for it. Just talk crap with each other while we are playing, no desire to get involved socially, just unload on each other when needed.

Also when I was at work we had a support scheme where people from completely different parts of the business could meet up with someone they didn’t know for a coffee and a natter when they felt the need. Sometimes it was just one meeting, sometimes more. It’s just good to talk with someone you aren’t particularly connected with sometimes.

Good luck with it. :love2:

When I worked on the suicide prevention team at work, a colleague & I were talking with a constant self harmer, we were trying to reassure him that help was there when it’s needed, he replied “ you can say whatever you like, you might even mean it but unless you can climb inside my head you will never understand or know the true help I need”

Dom's bike stop? great place and a nice bloke (y)

As for riding with others I quite like sitting at the back where possible and playing catch up, I don't mind riding with people I don't know as long as they are reasonable, its a couple of mates I have that I wont ride with (100% dickheads the pair of them)

Today I have been helping sort out more rocketry stuff, the day started badly with the organizer getting scalded by a brain dead Mc Donalds employee resulting in an hour or two at hospital but went well after that so I reckon we are half a day ahead of what we expected, been a long hard day and have not been in long, same again tomorrow

You're not the only one...! The older I get the more anti-social and intolerant I get.

I've never suffered fools gladly, but as I get older the "piss off you're bothering me" bar gets set ever lower.
Yup same here, life is too short to bother with dickheads

If I like someone I will stick by them but tolerance for idiots is in short supply and getting shorter by the month

Had the vaccine at the start of the year thankfully so at the min I feel fine. The other half is really suffering.... She too has had both jabs otherwise I think she would be a lot worse than she is

Do you really mean a wine in the pub :)

This time definitely coffee, though I must admit the cup of coffee I'm drinking now does resemble a glass of wine, but you do win the prize for guessing the location

The meacerator in mother in laws en-suite stopped switching off again, decided not to mess around this time as she really needs it due to her incapacitation and replace the whole unit for the thick end of £400.

Got the old one out which involved removing a built in toilet….got the new one in…….nothing. Zip. Zilch.

Flooded the ensuite taking it out again, all I could think was that there may be a blanking plug that needed removing. Gave it a good look over, checked the one way valves were working, put it all back again….zip. Zilch. Bloody thing is as dead as a door nail.

Flooded the en-suite again taking it out, put the old one back in.

Four hours of my life wasted, now got to send the bloody thing back for replacement.

And then go through the whole bloody performance again.
