Did they still make them that late ?
Yes I think so but going from the lack of an issue or armory number I think this one was made under license & either a private purchase or never issued, the only marks I could find were very faint (unreadable) on the base of the blade beside a just about readable 1941

Either way it looks like the 1907 hook quillion pattern to me, & it had screws rather than brass pins through the scales so must be a fairly late one ! probably should have measured the hole in case it was a later remake for a mauser or something else

Made a hook knife for wood carving but it didnt harden well in the quench so chucked it, need to find a nice thin ish piece of 01 steel & have another go at some point
The old fitters at work used to make their own knives out of circular saw blades.

Proly meant to be issued as some sort of ceremonial one at a guess but the mk 2 was still about.. but the mk 1 only had 2 screws not three

I have made a few now thick hacksaw blades are good as well as some saw blades, the problem i had with this one is i wanted a hook for carving so had to heat it to bend it then it wouldnt harden again

It really is a tank if it used 25l to do 20 miles!!
I was just topping her up. I haven't run the car since 28th December and really don't want to pay £600 for a new battery if it goes flat. Going for some fuel sounded like a reasonable excuse to drive to me.

Very similar to that mate but not so much of a hook & it didn't look cut down as it still has the round bit on the end, all that I could find on it was 1941 & at first thought it was a nasty repro but the condition & genuine wear says it isn't

Jaws 2 screws mate & it seems we are not the only ones confused by it, he's had it on a few forums apparently & none of the experts seem to be able to get their heads around what it is

Best guess so far is it being a commonwealth one as Cougar says either that or one made under license in europe for some obscure market, none of this still accounts for the lack of armoury number or makers stamp though

On a similar note i have just agreed to buy an Eratz bayonet with what looks like shrapnel damage for less than half of what its worth :)

Have you considered buying a battery conditioner??

Went out for half a walk this morning with miss Molly. Then sorted out my TV and SkyTV setup in the motorhome and tidied up the mess of wiring. Then went out for the other half of the walk with miss Molly. Had a bit of lunch, the loaf of bread I made on Monday tastes great, now time for a cuppa and relaaaaaaaaaax

So you know which one to avoid?
I'm not sure I'll be able to use the same one as Beaks as I can't get my car close enough to the garage because Mrs Plops parks that side. The charger would need one hell of a long lead on it; I already have the bikes plugged in and they're all using extension leads, albeit with surge protectors. Not sure I want another charger running from there via an extension lead. Think I'd rather run the car once a week.

The current draw from a small battery charger is so low you could run 10 of em off the average extension lead...
I put the charger AND the end of the lead it is plugged in to under the bonnet, so right out of the weather

Finished putting the small auxiliary compressor back together.. The starter capacitor had blown..
If I had known that was all it was it would have been a 10 minute fix, but I tore it right down and checked both the windings for leaks.. and somehow mucked up a bush one end of the motor shaft. So ended up with all sorts of fun and games getting the old bush out, machining a new one and press fitting it in place

One of my extension leads blew a few weeks back. I didn't hear anything, just went in one day and saw that the two chargers hooked up to the Panzers were off and then noticed that the switch had blown out of the surge protected extension lead.
