having been there on several occasions I suggest

the best view is at home in front of ya 32" wide screen with a Stella in one hand and a mobile in the other to let ya mates at the track know exactly what is going on :} I'm going for the Day of Champions but then it's back across the border to whatch the racing in comfort.
Enjoy it dude

Been there, and had one
Club Sponsor
Stan......

try to get somewhere near the spitfire overlooking the craner curves, and then you can see all the action for the next 3 or 4 corners(sorry can remember the names, but take your ear muffs with you, coz you wont be able to hear the bikes for the sound of 120,000 fookin air horns... :f

Jan & I will be there for the practice on Saturday (hopin to link up with Mike W & Andrea, and anyone else who is there)

I aim to watch from the comfort of my armchair with a few Stellas keeping me company  .

Enjoy it mate,

Dark Angel

Still kickin' it!
Try the "Foggy Esses"...

...Just back from Mallory BSB and under severe pressure from the Missus (bless her!) to go to Donninton for the MotoGP (Ya can't beat bein' there...!!!).

Last year we ended up at Foggy's and had a brilliant time - especially because the air horns were mostly on the other side of the track "around the corner" on the start/finish straight!

The Bonus was that I taped the whole event anyway...So we watched it together and re-lived the whole experience at home the following night...with appropriate (ahem!) liquid refreshments to hand. What a great way to extend the weekend!!

Mallory was brilliant...the only drawback being the number of police patrols...

...they were everywhere and I was forced (against my will) to keep a very close eye on them...! :xm

Anyway...At least the Missus had our "getaway" planned... :}

Roll on Donninton!!!!

Stan if you want to actually listen to the bikes, and believe me they are a fookin unbelieve aural assault on the lug 'oles, you are going to have to go on Saturday. Race day is completely ruined by twats with air horns.

Last year standing just opposite the pit entrance on the inside of the circuit as the bikes excellerate down the start finish straight was awesome. Just after the Dunlop bridge wasn't bad either as the riders shut off for Foggy esses. Best sounding bikes... the Kawasakis and the Aprilias... this year the Hondas new exhaust system should make them in the running.

Just hoping I can make it for the Saturday R#?

Have to agree

Thats its a complete waste of time and money going to Donnington. %$fan

Very few large view screens to see whats happened as the bike pass 8l1nd , the twats with air horns want them shoving where the sound would be muted and the views are crap. This year I'm voting with my feet and staying away from the dump. :bang:

Just did Mallory this Sunday - BSB - and it was brill, great racing, great views, no fookin air horns (free tickets was an extra bonus).

Buzz.

I'm hoping to be there on Saturday but the mother in law is seriously ill so I can't make firm arrangements just in case I have to drive Janet ('er indoors) up to Ashton Under Lyne to be with her mum. I don't think I'm going to bother with Sunday for starters it's fookin expensive compared to Le Mans where we paid 59euro for the three days (?41) and that included a programme! If I manage to make it I will be meeting up with Stromy Waters and Andrea, thats if he doesn't fill his bike up with diesel this year

I live in Valley and as you say the island is small but we hardly ever venture up to the north side. My local evening ride is the A4080 past Rhosneigr, Aberffraw, Newborough to LlanfairPG then the B5420 to Llangefni, B5109 up to the A5025 and home. It's better when the holiday grockles have gone home but a brilliant ride anyway.

been to valley or should i say through valley on my way to trearddur bay across four mile bridge.only been on the island once on my old ride...across the menai bridge, through llanfair p.g.,and over to amlwch via pentraeth,benllech....not a bad strech of tarmac, but i should imagine the stretch that you ride is better,it certainly looks it.

The road on the north side of the island is OK but full of Grockles during the summer and attracts Herr Grabencash Brunstrums finest so I tend to stay off it. The B road through Llangefni is more fun and technically far better, I even like it in the car and its fast enough without going completely ballistic.

I'm within walking distance of Four Mile Bridge.. BTW the local dare is to jump off the bridge on the inland sea side when the tide is running in

Been there, seen it before, rode the track and had more fun doing that (except when Ron Haslem passed me laughing as I was in the middle of a tank slapper at Club corner).
Gonna watch it on TV, have a BBQ and a few beers.
All those going, have a great time and hope this damn weather stays dry.

Don't want to piss on anyone's bonfire here BUT

expensive compared to Le Mans where we paid 59euro for the three days

they'd have to pay ME to go back to Le Mans :t . I thought the facilities there were pants, the place was dirty and viewing generaly poor. It might have a reputation, but that is due to the old guard IMHO. Try any modern track and you will not return to places like Le Mans, Donnington, etc.

It could be worse you could be camping at Donny. Three of us from the Acers group decided to do that 2 yrs ago.. all mature guys (I'm 55) OK Ok some of us are old gits... anyway we arrived on the Thursday and were directed to 'security'... along a muddy track.. great two days polishing the bike and 2 seconds after entering the ground it looked like a tractor!!!

Have you any fireworks...no
Have you any drugs........no
Have you got a scrap moped.... hmmm ....nope
Excess alcohol!!!! fookin ell I could arrive in a car and not have excess alcohol
Have you got a milk churn??????? (Dont believe me read the small print in the handout from MCN) WTF would I want with a milk churn? and wouldnt it be fairly obvious if I had one on my bike?.. well they were filling them with gas last year and firing them at the aircraft taking off from east midlands airport!!!
(Idle minds and lack of entertainment springs to mind)

We then had to ride across a wet field to park up cos ...You aint going onto the camp field wiv yer bike.. ya gotta carry your kit from 'ere. What about the 15 acres of hard standing advertised in MCN?... erm thats for the cars innit!!

The adverts said hot showers and toilet facilities... there must have been over 5,000 people on the camp site sharing 6 showers and about 25 portaloos.. I managed 1 shower and became anully retentive after Saturday morning.. apart from the trip to the Coop in Castle Donnington Saturday evening for a shit. The portaloos were piled high and should have been emptied at least every day.

There will be onsite security staff. Yeh right just to make sure you dont escape to rape and pillage.. the twats fooked off during the MotoGP leaving the camp site wide open .... a transit van was seen driving round lobbing tents into the back at one stage. The cost is fookin crazy.. I went with my mate John to Le Mans ?41 for 3 days with programme and the town turned out to wave to us after the races had finished... the MotoGP is being delayed next Sunday because of TV coverage!!! I could go on for ages with the things that are wrong...

Did I complain... oh yes... emailed the Donnington management... Thank you for your comments we will be taking them onboard and carry out a thorough investigation in the next 5 seconds. Even emailed MCN the following year when a similar question to yours was asked and had my comments erased from the board!!! Just shows you how much MCN is backing the motorcycling public... a bunch of two faced assholes.

Am I going and watching this year ... of course I shall try to be there on the Saturday to meet up with you guys and listen to the bikes... and watch the race on the box with a gallon of Stella.

Rant nearly over

Yes I agree the viewing isnt the best at Le Mans but at least we were treated well. The Donnington management couldnt give a shit about the average punter. We didnt camp at LM but those that we saw were allowed to pitch a tent where they liked and the management provided evening entertainment the toilet facilities were of the perminant nature and there are shower units dotted around the site. Ok there may be better tracks to visit but Donnington must be the bottom of the list.
DS where do you recommend in Europe for a visit?
