Bev has to book her eye appointments every three Months for the botox injections at Royal Hallamshire, she rang this morning & the phone was answered by a “non English” person.
“I need to book an appointment with Dr Tan’s clinic”
“Ok, who is Doctor Tan?”
“She does the botox clinic”
“Ah, you want the plastic surgery clinic”
“No, it’s injections in my eyelids for blepharospasm”
“So you need to ring the plastic surgery clinic”
“No, I’ve been doing this for three years, I have to book every three Months, just book me an appointment with Dr Tan”
“Dr Tan is not here today”
“I know, her clinic is Thursday & Saturday”
“So you ring back on Thursday, meantime I will send you a welcome letter”

Went to my GP thus morning as they appeared to forget one of my diabetic medicines in my last order & I'm off on holiday for 10 days today.

English receptionist said go to the dispensary & tell them. Dis that, they confirmed no order for my tablets. Go to reception & tell them.

Back to reception who said I have to put in a request, did that last Monday, the surgery missed 1 item.

Reception said go back to dispensary & order again, they'll be ready to pick up in 3-4 days.

Stay at reception & say again I'm away from 2.00pm for 10 days & only have 4 days supply.

Receptionist: "if you knew you were going away, you should have planned things better, there's nothing more I can do."

At which point I lost it. Wasnt shouty but told receptionist I went there for help not attitude & if they weren't so hell bent on pushing everything on line the surgery wouldn't be in the sh1t they find themselves in. Finally got the tablets they missed off request but I've been told to expect a letter about my behaviour.

That should make for some good reading.

I ordered my wife’s meds online a couple of weeks ago and when they arrived they were slightly wrong. One of them I’d ordered didn’t arrive, another I didn’t order did. I know I did my order correctly, I’m very methodical and a bit ocd.

I called the surgery to find out why it was wrong and to ensure the correct one was ordered. Apparently my online request is then manually input at the surgery, following the details logged on the prescription. So, they input It wrong and were blasé about the error. Oh it was input wrong by someone else, not me She said. Why the duplication! Not only that, but it was her heart medication.

I told them we needed the correct meds before last weekend as we were going away on holiday. Friday came and no delivery, so I walked across to the pharmacy ( they delivery normally so we don’t need to collect) and enquired and fortunately they were able to dispense what we needed - I assume it would otherwise have been delivered today, Monday, even though that was late.

And they got the order wrong. This time in our favour, we got double what was requested.

Rather than a letter I will tell the GP next time we see him

Our Doctor’s have a sign basically stating anybody causing a scene will be banned, they need one stating any receptionist ignoring or talking down to patients will be sacked
Of all the jobs on the planet being a receptionist in a GP surgery is in my top three of jobs I wouldn't won’t to do.

Question is - why do people make a scene???

That’s the bit they don’t want to accept Alec. People, as a rule don’t like making a fuss but when you politely go about trying to resolve a situation and are then treated like you’re a troublemaker it can be a little galling to say the least

I have been prescribed the same inhaler for 4 months now, 2 blasts a day and it holds 60 so 30 days worth (even i can work that out) I am going to be on thats forever or until the copd gets to the point that i need something stronger the docs still had not added it to my repeat so i have run out twice so far and am constantly chasing it

Downloaded the NHS app last week and guess what no regular inhaler showing to order and also no BP tablets either but surprisingly the other inhaler i have never used and dont need is showing as available to order ....
Went the chemists this morning and there is no prescription there for me, the snotty bitch at the doctors counter tried to say i must have overused both items and didnt seem to like it when i loudly told her if i had overused the bp tablets i would likely be dead and to look when i last got an inhaler (26 days ago) silly cow couldnt work out that 60 blasts at 2 per day worked out at 30 days and i was due to order another

Good for you for telling the twat.

It annoys the living daylights out of me seeing notices in waiting areas of GP surgeries, A&E, other hospital departments, etc. that abuse will not be tolerated and staff deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect. I'm ok with that. What I'm not ok with is that most of these idiots don't seem to realise that it works both ways.

BTW, did she have big tits?

Because the receptionists are ignorant.
Because the Doctors turn up late & are often dismisive
And don't forget that most receptionists think they're doctors when they don't even know their two times f'ing table.

I rang the surgery in the Garden of England when I came back from a three week job in South America. My left ear was totally blocked after being stuck offshore with a horrific cold, fever and eff knows what else. I called the surgery and asked for an appointment with my GP.

Her "What's the problem?"
Me "My left ear is blocked."
Her "Have you tried olive oil?"
Me "Yes, on pasta and salad. Now, can I have an appointment or what?"
Her "No, I mean have you tried putting olive oil in your ear?"
Me "Say what?"
Her "Have you tried putting olive oil in your ear for the blockage?"
Me "Are you a doctor?"
Her "No."
Me "Then why are you attempting to diagnose me over the phone? Secondly, why would I put olive oil in my ear when it's already full of fluid?"
Her "Three pm tomorrow." Click.

She did not have big tits.

I have to say though, the receptionists at my local surgery in Pontypridd are bloody fantastic. Never known anything like them. I wonder if it's anything to do with the practice being a partnership.

Bev rang her Mum’s Doctor’s to try to get an appointment for her.
Receptionist, “what’s the Problem”
Bev, “she has a rash all over her body”
R, “has she changed her washing powder?”
B, “not to my knowledge”
R, “has she tried Aqueous cream”
B, “I’ve no idea, all I know is that she has been trying to ring you for over a week but not been able to get through”
R, “has she had the rash for more than a week?”
B, (getting annoyed) “obviously, she’s been trying to ring for over a week now can you just book her an appointment please?”
R, “we have to establish whether or not she needs to see a Doctor”
B, “she’s 88 years old, she is in pain with an eye problem that the NHS is failing to resolve, she has had a rash for more than a week & her skin is red raw & she is in pain, please just book her an appointment”
R, the Doctor will call her back before the end of the day”
He/she didn’t so she ended up ringing 111, rash still not diagnosed three weeks later, she’s seen three Doctors & each says the last one diagnosed wrong & gave her the wrong treatment.
