I HAD ONE

:bandit: Thought it was shit!!!!!!!
Did'nt think it had any grunt compared to my KWAK
and i only used it in the wet coz i hated it with a passion,, but then it was only 400 quid (swapped it for an old Ford Scorpio)
I kept the damn thing for a few months before taking 1800 quid for it.. It was silky smooth to ride but no oooomph,,bit like my old woman...

BERT, you only went to ASSEN coz it has "ASS" in the name.. :f

i have had three of them just sorting out the last one which was bought as spare parts for the one i handed down to my son was cheaper to insure him on that than a vf750 that i had at the same time.
if any body needs any parts for an early one im about to get rid of it. many happy memories with these bikes:bow:

Yep !! It was ace...........

..........had an FR. Built like a tank. Wanted to change it, looked at a used carbed bird but didn't really think the difference was worth the then extra dosh against a new CBR1000. Went back after a week to buy a new CBR, and the last two in the country had been sold. Thought 'shite' so said I'd buy the bird but it had been sold......'got a mint black one coming in next week with 750 miles, 4/12 old @ ?6500, though' I said OK I'll have it having not even seen it.

Went back a week later to pick it up. It looked the bollox [in black, natch !!]. Wasn't till I did the pre delivery control run through............

me: Wass that light then ?

Abingdon M/C: That's the FI light Sir

me: I know that ! ; it's got 'FI' on it !!!

ABMC: FI........fuel injection [muppet]

me: Ahhhhhhh............of course

Rode it away...............fekking eck !! what a difference compared to either of the carbed ones!!! Result !! Well chuffed

........and the rest is geography !!

Yep

First "real" bike, took the last test before the law changed, went from CBT - 125 Training - passed the test then bought a 1000FP.

3 weeks later rode from Poole - Dover - Calais on to the Munich beer fest  (Schon). Bloody steep learning curve though, went with three "veterans", you would'nt have been able to bend wire the shape I was in when we finally arrived :B :B

I reckon I had the only curved sleeping bag on the site, don't think I straightened up until well into the next day. Thought the bike was great, but then I had no experience to compare with anything else :dunno: :dunno:

Naturaly progressed to the Bird and would'nt change...

The Z1 Was A Good 'Un Joe !!!!

I was riding a Kwak 500 mach triple before the Z1.....and me Dad asked if he could borrow it to run down to the local Ford dealers to get some parts for his Cortina. He returned an hour later a deathly shade of white.....told me the thing was a deathtrap.... and to get rid ASAP !!!! I had no wonga at the time so he fronted up the difference to fund the Z1....just to get me off of the triple !!!:} :}

Weren't known for their handling abilitites, the Kwak 500 two-strokes !!!!!:}

CBR1000

:p Yes I owned a CBR1000 of 1988 vintage (Jelly mould) was a cracking bike and didn't seem to mind two up. One morning just after sparrow fart go to take bike out for a jaunt, hit starter, and lo and behold it sounded like a lunatic rattling loose bolts in a biscuit tin, yes you guessed it CAMCHAIN but good old Honda changed the camchain and tensioner PLUS the cams. Cost lots but not for ME.

As I said good bike.

All the best

Me too

Had a CB350 for many, many, many years (about 20!), then the wife traded it (much to the surprise of the dealer when we took it in to do the trade) for a CBR1000FM, for my 50th birthday! :k

Best birthday pressie I ever got.

Great bike, but I saw my first Bird when I'd had it the 1000 for a year and the green-eyed monster started working. Had to wait another four years before I traded up.

Rode the bird, two up, out of the gate from work and went to pass three cars, riding as I had on the 1000. I went past the cars on one wheel, so I swiftly changed my habits on the throttle. I'm on the second Bird now and no plans to change (except to another Bird, of course) :-:

And if I could figure out how to post an attachment, I'd put a photo of the 1000 here! :bang:

did I own one?

Er..........No

When I went to my dealer in aug 89 to trade in my cbr6 (fl I think- jellymould anyway) they were in short supply but they did have a new zx10 which i had been lusting after since they came out, so I had that instead - kept it for the longest I have had a bike , 8 years. but I may beat that with the blackbird. bikes in chronological order

cb250rs
cb550 four - my first multi,
Rd350ypvs fantastic - best value for money bike I have had
rd500ypvs great but not as good as the hype
cbr600fl - couldnt get on with it
zx10b2 - suited me until the blackbird came out
cbr600fr - this is all u need, but whats need to do with it?
cbr1100xxw fan bloody tastic only sold it to move to australia
gsx1400 - until I was passed by a blackbird - to the dealers again
cbr1100xx1 - fan bloody tastic

so there it is blackbird twice, thats got to be a reccomendation of some sort.

Been there, and had one
Club Sponsor
Honda CB900F2B and CBX750, talk about bringing back memories. If anyone knows the whereabouts of OGM 99X (900)or D306 UGM (750) I would be fasinated to talk to the current owners. I know that they are both still onthe road.
