Loads of people that I have spoken to on this site seem to have owned a CBR1000 at some time......

I think it would be interesting to find out what percentage did and if they owned it before their Blackbird

I had 3 of them over the years. The 1st was an FK which I had when it was launched in 1989, sold it at 170,000 miles and it is still on the road with an excess of 400,000 miles on its original engine and going strong.

I then had an FN and an FP and did over 100,000 on each of those, and having had so much fun I brought my first Blackbird without test riding on the basis that it was an evolution of the CBR so it could only get better. Boy, I wasn't wrong:lick: Now on my 3rd BB.

slight error m8, the FK was first brought out in 1987, the fg followed, only minor diffrences being bodywork and steering, most stuff on them was interchangable, used em as courier hacks so needed to chop and change when bits got broken:blush:
the FJ had completly different bodywork and dash, and mechanicals, and sold a lot more of em, as by then the ''stigma'' of the VF had started to disappear:blush:

here endeth etc,:bow:

Are you sure about that? I never had the jelly mould model which was the 87 bike, I started with the 89 bike which was the complete revamp withthe new fairing, bamper damper and the Cyrox radials.

According to registration document (of which I still have a copy) it was an FK, and my buddy still has his FH which was the jelly mould.

I remember well~~

well that in itself makes a bloody change!!

Had the Bird and the CBR for about 4 weeks [overlapping] - whilst waiting the sell the old steed.

One Sunday thought I'd better give the old gal a bit of a run out

Went 2 miles up to the first island - PHOOKING HELL - got a flat tyre here matey - wallowing about in the corner - BASTID!!

Went back home - checked the tyre pressures - all perfectly OK

Twas the difference between the Bird and the CBR handling

10 days later she was sold

:blush: your right TC I'm wrong, FH 87 FK 88, I stand corrected though I know I'm right about the interchangable parts on the FH + FK, it was the FJ that altered everything,the Fg was the one immediately after the VF,now about to go searching out my doc's to substantiate my claims,:blush: one appology a day is my limit,:}

I don't think anything was interchangeable between the FH or FK except maybe the clutch and front brake lever.

I think someone once told me (and I stand to be corrected) that there was something like 180+ differences or changes between the two bikes.
