Aaah, Ilfracombe harbour, only been living in Barnstaple for 72 years and diving out of here for 25 and never noticed the elephant in the headland untill my lady friend pointed it out, talk about not seeing the wood for the trees .
Seem to remember going to,a cracking model village in ilfracombe in about 1966.

Is it still there??

Thought everyone knew about the elephant in the harbour? Had a great view from my bedroom window when growing up, which I always thought looked like Jumbo sitting down from behind

Sadly the model village disappeared years ago. I remember visiting it as a kid, when we holidayed there in 1970 (the year before we moved) and I was at school with the son of the owner.

There is an amazing model village at Godshill on IoW.

Was there last year. there's a cracking cyder shop about 100m down the road, which I spent a fortune in for gifts for the family.

They also sold other local produce.

Must have been windy...... by pic 3 you were lying on the deck.
Not far off it! I had taken precautions before venturing down to the seafront - ballast by way of a toasted sausage sandwich.
An elderly lady was actually blown over in the town centre yesterday afternoon :(

Blue sky. Crikey. I remember that.
That was yesterday, today, although it stayed dry, was very cold, windy and grey. The expected downpours haven’t manifested themselves just yet. No doubt tomorrow will be a proper washout.

We went out briefly this morning in bright sunshine, then I noticed a large bank of clouds in the direction we were walking. It started to rain and so we retraced our steps and I saw the rainbow while we were crossing the road bridge. Back indoors after the heavy rain. FC229C4D-D03D-4F8A-9E8D-C316B22BB27B.jpeg
