How do you secure your bike on the ferry? Do you have to take your own straps? I bought some today but they are heavy duty ones for securing a bike to a trailer and may be a bit too heavy to carry. Can anyone recommend the best ones to buy if we need them?

Dont worry about the ferry as they will strap it down when you get on board.
Calm trip to you all :beer:

My brother-in-law tells me that the catalan sporting press is full of the warm welcome Rossi is going to get - hope it's restricted to verbals only :rolleyes:
Safe ride down boys - our wings and steeds await us :yo:

Does Eric know you are talking about this sort of thing on a public forum Lorraine?! :}

Have a good run down there tomorrow......I'll be stuck at work with people adding to an already unfeasably long list of impossible jobs to do before I leave. It's a good job that the majority of the department don't know I finish tomorrow teatime.......I'll email them just before I get on the bike for the ferry.......

Not sure what time what time I'll get down there on Wednesday, I'm aiming for early afternoon. Gonna get my butt in the saddle very early so I can get beyond Birmingham before the rush hour(s), I also need to take a bit of a detour on route to sort something out.

Anyway, see ya at the terminal people, take care.....

...Yeah (I'm back. Lorraine's "tied up" with other things at the moment! :eek:)

We'll be setting off for Plymouth at about 1pm in the blistering English sunshine (ironic, or what?!). There has been a lot of input on this thread in the way of help, information, positive advice and good wishes, as expressed by others on this forum. The build-up to the trip has been fantastic and I'd just like to say a big thanks for all of the positive contributions that have been made by everyone.

Return to Base

Well I hope all of you have got home in one piece, I must say what a good week that was.. and unusual to say the least!
It was nice to meet up with a crowd of new people, put faces to names and make some new friends, so a warm hello to Rhino and Emma, Eric and Lorraine, Manuella and Patrick from Holland and of course Jim (why have we still got him.. didn't you want to take him back with you???) and Paul (Fodder): also many thanks to Paul -Rhino's bro- for the part he played (insert your own private joke here!)
I thought both practice and race days were very good and having a good stand to sit in was to us a bonus, getting in and out of the track was not to bad either considering the amount of bikes there were in the car park.
The only down side was the ride back when we left Lleida as from Tarragona to Valencia it pissed down :cry: and we rode close on 200 miles in pouring rain with no waterproofs! On the good side we had a blast with a 'Blade in the rain but he chickened out and by the time I was doing 150 mph in the rain (on a virtually empty motorway) he'd backed off (as Bart would say.. 'Eat my shorts' - good old Blackbird and well done Avon Sports. :bow:)
Anyway back to the trip, if any of you guys fancy a ride over again sometime stick our names down at the top of the list 'cos that was most enjoyable, alternatively if you want to visit our neck of the woods we will show you some Andalusian hospitality.
On that thought I did have some sort of an idea in my capacity as the Spanish trip organiser (cough!) and that is if anyone wanted to visit us we could ride up to meet you peeps at Santander and then visit Portugal for a stop over on the way down to our village but it would have to be a 2 week trip I think and I am not sure if any of you are in the position do get that much time off. Last year we had two lads who came to us from the North of England on a 600 Bandit, they made terrific time and did a 10 day trip staying with us for 6 of those days... oh the stamina of the young!
OK.. off to the beach, it's a tough job but someones gotta do it!
Keep in touch..
