Broadband, not steam driven

Looks like we are going that way, BT infinity, unlimited calls, broadband + line rental, includes BT vision essential pack :dunno:

i know John does not like BT along with WD40 but iv not had a problem so can not complain

i pain the line save that brings the line down to ?120 for the year

and i stream films a lot and its never given me a problem and every test
speed always comes back at over 37 meg

and with most things now days needing the internet the faster line you have the better

its funny as iv just looked round and there must be about 10 items in this house that are hooked up to the internet

Got a reliable 20 mbps through Virginmedia for several years now.

Now upgraded to Tivo and a Superhub.

29.12 mbps almost all the time.

No restrictions and (it seemes so far) no clocking down to 4 mbps between 16.00 and 01.00 Hrs. Don't know for how long though.

Would not hesitate to recomend Virginmedia, if you can get it.

£34.99/Month.

Also took out a mobile dangly £12.99/Month.

Successfully up dated Kaspersky, HP and microsoft in the time it took to go from Clapham Junction to just before Lewes, although did have to restart the download when going through a tunnel at (I think) Purley.

Ahh OK :-0)

So only twice the price of a good many others then... @tu*

but all the others can not give me 40 meg to my door they just say up to
40meg

so for now im happy and as now i can still stream a full HD film and use the net all at the same time

fair enough.. If its what you want and your happy to pay then who can argue @tu*

Me, I stream HD stuff for ?14.11 a month.. I would say I am a pretty heavy user too, with all the complete web sites I have to upload and download regularly, so def no issue with running out of band width for that price either ...

You would stream no problem on 7meg but I could not get that down my standard line best I could get was 2.2meg

As I'm on the out side range of my exchange so the only way was to go down the route I have with BT infinity as there is no virgin even in the road

thas slow

Currently with Sky...( believe in better)....yeah right:wank:
We are 3 miles, probably less by crow to our local exchange and are getting 0.7 meg download and 0.5 upload.
Told we would get up to 8 meg.
Ideas for a good provider or is that it :dunno:
get .7 from my "3" dongle.

BT Infinity works for me too.

Actually cheaper than what I was paying before for orange plus my phone bills (mainly 'cos the phone package was the wrong one really and costing me )

Now have free calls 24/7 plus no limit broadband (BT do say that during peak hours they do "shape" peer-to-peer traffic - but they also tell you when you can avoid this).

Promised up to 31 meg (6 meg upload) on signing up.

Have to say I'm a happy bunny @tu*

This is what I now normally get:

You really need to see if BT infinity is available in your area.

Go here: http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=29017

and enter your'e phone number and it'll tell you.

Otherwise it's seeing if anyone else offers fibre optics for your area.

What your getting right now is about "normal" for broadband over the normal 'phone line.

PS ..... it looks like BT Infinity will be available for Retford from March 2012 !

Your doing well to avoid Virgin anyway from what I can gather Rob.. Great customer service though so I spose they have something going for them...
I am ALMOST the furthest you can get from the exchange in Thetford
There are a few houses that are further but only a few
