Chill out, dude! :-:

It's only an advisory and based on one mans interpretation, that's all. You know it's perfectly safe so just get out and ride it. @tu*

Ok.. so check it your self Ian.

Up on the centre stand, grab hold of the rear wheel and see if it can be lifted at all

It is rare the bearings go, but it has been known mate

You can tell when a bike is a bit precious when the owner gets emotional about one advisory!

I always feel like i've got away with something when mine passess..

John, worst part about it I did, and the twat's right, there is "some" movement, so what part do I buy now as the three bolts have been changed and it's now a matter of principal as having looked at last years MOT I got an advisory on steering head bearings (done) and the UPPER suspension bush that I thought I'd sorted with the new bolts!! :dunno: a bit pissed off as he's a cock anyway!! and you know when you meet one like that, you don't want to give it any leeway!! :wank:

Well you are proly best off replacing all three bearings Yin...

In the dog bone there is one at each end, part number 91071-KV3-005

In the bottom of the shock the bearing is part number 91072-KT7-003

You should also replace all the seals but push comes to shove you can usually get away with the old ones IF YOU REMOVE THEM CAREFULLY !!!

You will need six seals, part number 91262-KV3-831

If the tester deems it a fail its a fail & you have to take it on the chin or complain to VOSA. The problem is its down to the testers experience & personal assessment & different testers make different judgements based on that
For example I would fail some things my boss thought were perfectly fine or only worthy of an advisory & he would pass things I never would..... its not an exact science

If its an advisory its worth looking at or keeping an eye on before the next MOT I don't see a problem!

As above .... if you don't like his judgement .... take it elsewhere :-0)

Some examples.
Several years ago Bev took her car for it's first MOT, it failed due to a slight crack in the number plate, her friend took her Frontera to the same garage (cross street, Wakefield) same tester, car passed with no advisory despite a very large crack in the number plate.
Last year Bev's Octavia failed due to airbag light being on, year before,it passed with the same fault.

Before becoming a tester myself I have been failed for things that are not even testable even though some can get you nicked under the road traffic act
these are bike specific

EG
Number plate light being out ..... not testable on a bike (it is on a car)

Disc under minimum wear limit ..... a tester has no way of measuring this within the rules

A nail in the rear tyre .... if no cord showing & no cracks present & the tyre has legal tread there is no reason to fail

No front brake light switch...... legal on a bike made before a certain year (no I cant be arsed to look it up at the mo)

Of course common sense says the above needs mentioning or sticking on an advisory but a tester cant legally fail any of the above

Crazy I know but that's the way it is :-0)

I don't have a problem with failing or even passing the MOT, what I do have a problem with is a cock like him being a pedantic Twat and giving an advisory on something that really shouldn't have had one!! last years "advisory" with the headstock bearings was as bad, the "slightest" and I do mean slightest notch that even he admitted was only just noticeable, was included, and looking at last years other "advisory" it was the suspension top bearings that have "slight play" in them, I'm sure the dick looked at last years notes and decided to piss me off again, I wont be going back there as suggested, FFS he had alignment boards out, tape measure the fookin lot!! YES, doing his job would be fair enough, but the heap of shit he had just past, without so much as looking at it properly is what really set me off this time!!
