Black Friday??

ianrobbo1

good looking AND modest
I've worn baggy jeans, a bandanna and an oversized American football top today. I'm calling everyone blood and walking with a limp.

I think I've misunderstood Black Friday.:dunno:

More to the point.. I think the retailers have missed the point of black Friday ..
Almost all the so called bargains are anything but..

I carefully checked all the small print at the bottom of the Currys adverts..
Friggin JOKE !

Stuff like :

( Higher price from September the 9th to October the 9th in selected stores )

And my favorite:

NOW LESS THAT HALF PRICE !! Only ?99.90

( Full price ?147.50 )

This needs to be stopped now. It is a gimmick to a) unload stock that isn't moving for any reason (JAWS are doing tax disc holders at 75% off I understand!), b) get people into shops in the hope that they spend money elsewhere and c) a total waste of public resources with a number of 'incidents' having to be dealt with by Plod. I wonder how much shoplifting goes on during these events?

Bizzarely, Mrs Andybird wanted to pick up one of those Karscher window washer gizmos earlier this week from 'a large DIY chain' but they only had one left of the one she wanted and the box had been opened so parts probably missing. This was ?60. I asked one of the assistants if they had any more stock and she said 'no', but hang on a minute' while she fiddled round in her jacket pocket. After referring to a leaflet she then told us that the top of the range model with all sorts of gizmos was being reduced by 50% to ?50 on Black Friday. I asked if we could reserve it and she said 'no, but come with me'. she picked the box up and took us to the building section and hid it behind some massive rolls of insulation. Mrs Andybird popped back this morning, retrieved box and paid ?50.

Now that's what I call customer service....... if a little misguided.

Ironically the shop was pretty empty anyway and there was still one of the washers left on the tiny 'Black Friday' display.

What is this Black Friday bollocks anyway? I thought Nicholas Nicholas referred to the last Friday before Christmas thus, because that's when everyone goes straight on the piss after work, gets shitters and subsequently start fighting, pillaging and generally making kuntz of themselves in public places.

Our country is becoming more and more like that place the other side of the Atlantic. Before we know it we'll have a drugs epidemic and everyone will be over weight............

Tax disc holder now 95% off ! LOL !!!

Andy, you are pretty keen with numbers mate.. Can you explain for 50% of ?60 is ?10 ?

I am baffled by that !!

As an aside..
I know you are seriously looking at motorhomes, and the window vac is currently the 'MUST HAVE' thing for vanners

When you are in colder climes most vans get condensation build up on the windscreen over night.. From what I can gather everyone who suffers with it has been buying one and the machines are doing a bang up job...

Sorry, the all singing all dancing kit Karcher WV70 Li-Ion Window Vac

was ?100 reduced to ?50. Wouldn't have paid ?100 for it in the first place but it was ?10 cheaper today than the lower spec model we wanted in the first place. But back to the point, they were selling these at half price as nobody in their right mind would pay another ?40 for the difference between the ?60 set and this one.

Mrs A is flying round the windows with her new toy as I type and she thinks it is brilliant. Personally I can't wait until it needs recharging for a bit of peace and quiet8rfl@

The karcher window washers are all the same, the numbers refer to the package, i.e. the extras that come with it, I am actually just about to nip down to Maplins to buy one.

:bow: thanks for the insight John. I've had one of those things cluttering the garage up for a year now and all the while thinking 'what a waste of f'kin money' she kept it in the kitchen when it was still a novelty. It's now going to move into my car for the winter@tu*

The first working Monday in the new year they're thinking about promoting it by calling it White Monday,. But decided that it would just result in everyone scratching there bollocks, having another cup of tea and phoning in sick. :-0)
