UPDATE

, but it is now up to HR to view the score cards and decide.

The score cards that have obviously be designed to be completely objective and filled in objectively so no-one can possibly disagree with the outcome. Another stupid scam in the name of equal opportinities and covering their backs.

Can anyone explain to me the purpose of "HR" apart from draining the profit margine of any organisation they're involved in ???????

To me they are invention of the leftie liberal bleeding heart do-gooder tree hugging pillocks to cover their own arse by smearing it with "procedure"

Bring back the days when a boss interviewed for his own staff and made his own decision, without being ruled by diversity in the workplace.

They are effectively personnel and perform a largely admin function. They are all thick. They changed their name from personnel and made up degrees in HR in an attempt to professionalise the service - which they seem to have got away with!

Firstly. Good luck with it Howard.

Now 'HR'..
Don't get me started!
In my old job, they are actually better staffed and resourced that the people out at the pointy end. Now nine people do what two used to do in the one office. They have now taken over a full floor of an office block.

They actually make positions up for more staff to do the same job! At the moment, some are being investigated as they made positions up at a very high level, and filled the positions with people they used to work with at another company without advertising the post or having interviews!

Last night I was watching a program about people working on the railway.
At one point it showed an interview session by two 'HR' women.
I was disgusted. They were obviuously bored silly, supping coffee from a massive take away container and scribbling notes on a tatty note pad.
They were both scruffy and slouching whilst doing the interviews. Looked terrible. I had to turn it off.

Sounds like they are taking you through a competitive comparison with the others on the list "at risk" competing for less positions - usually the people in power have already made the decisions and are working a process to keep things legal.

Just been through it December but I knew the politics would determine I was to go anyway.
Got the best package I could and looking for something new now - no holding back - go for what you reckon you are worth firmly and politely - keep it professional and keep your integrity.

Not a great experience to go through though even if you prepare to leave - keep your pecker up..

Suggest you plan for the worst and consider your options not only what you will do if you are to leave but equally if you are to remain as that situation sounded equally awful and it might make you consider to leave anyway..
Good luck.

Fkn shitty situation mate never understood the mentality of some managers to enjoy making life difficult for others unecessarily, personally having recently changed jobs again due to the kindergarten mentality of my old boss, I kept it for long enough to move on to a better position, if I were in your shoes I'd be polishing up the CV anyway even if you do get it, best of luck either way@tu*

good looking AND modest
Well some good news and some bad, the bad news is I get to keep my job, the good news is, during the "interview" that lasted all of 20 minutes, I'm bloody certain that they were geared up to getting shot of me, the appearance of my union official shook the twats to the core, :-0) so I get to continue starting work at 4am in all bloody weathers, shame, as I'd liked to have popped back over to Canada and Vegas again, means I'll have to save up again now
Glad things seem to be going your way as well Howard, bit of a bugger waiting though innit??:)-(

Well I had my call this afternoon to say that I had been unsuccessful at my interview yesterday, as I guessed maybe the answer.
The HR Manager did not go into to many details apart from apparently my presentation and ideas were deemed as "old fashioned" and they did not believe I possessed the capability to provide anything of any strategic value!
I have a meeting arranged with him next Monday to discuss details of the redundancy and how they can help me find another job? but not with them.
I don't know if I should fight it or not? It looks like I would lose anyway, I can prove nothing, it looks like they have followed the correct process, even the 3 1/2 hour interview would be deemed as them just being thorough to get the right person for the job. I could understand if my sales figures were crap, but considering the majority of my work was with Local Authorities I was not doing bad. TWATS!

It's a shame you can't get a similar position with another company and take your sales accounts with you. Good luck with finding something else.

All the above procedures are the same at all companies now, scorecards, interviews for internal jobs etc. I've just gone through it all and lost my job too so I know what you are going through H.

Update your CV, get it out onto the internet and start to apply on-line. Don't cancel your broadband just yet :-0).

There are jobs out there, just dont be blinkered into looking at what you are used to doing.

The problems nowadays it doesn't matter what you have done in the past or how many qualifications you have, companies are looking for people with "vision for the future", this gives them carte blanche to employ the less qualified for less money.

Best of luck to you all :yo:

Jobs and money

I've fell lucky, new job start on the horizon. Finish on the Friday, start on the Monday, less hours, closer to home, and more money. @tu*

On probation for six months though which is a downside, I've just to prove myself at the company.

Jobs are out there, maybe not what you were looking for exactly, but they are there. I've been in the electricity game for years, so have a decent background to fall on to. I signed up to a job site called JOBRAPIDO, filled in electrical, East Midlands, and have 100 jobs come through every day. Skilled jobs, but they are out there.

You will find something Howard.
