Hi Paul,

Sorry to see you have had an off mate, but at least your ok, and has others have said the as long as your breathing any thing metal and plastic can be repaired. Wolfie has pretty much nailed it on the head parts wise, The right side frame fairing mount usually wears down but that can be fixed. check that the front wheel and discs and forks are straight and more importantly where the nose cone fairing bracket bolts to the frame is not cracked as the bike will defo be a scrapper if that part of the frame is damaged.

Taff.

Cheers Taffy. It's Oliver, paul was quoting one of my posts. Nose cone fairing bracket - right, I'll check that carefully once I get the bike home tonight. I think it's only worth me repairing it if things like what you've just said are sound. I did push the bike a few hundred yards from where it ended up to a man's farm and it rolled quite freely.

I will keep all posted on progress and whether it's getting repaired or scrapped. Might be asking a fair few questions as I get to know my bike in new depths. Thanks all.

Sorry to hear about your off, would agree with Wolfie insurance would write it off, when I came off the damage was a lot less but to insurer it was a write off (I see you are third party so won't be claiming) I was fully comp, but after advice on here, withdrew the claim with insurance and repaired my self with second hand parts. I spoke to the insurers engineer and they never listed it as accident damaged as it was cosmetic damage -insurer quote to repair ?2700!!

Good luck with the bits, takes a while to get it back together, but plenty of assistance on here@tu*

I really, really didn't want to see, what I presume, is your arse.

That's very unfair, yes we hetro's would not wish to see such a picture, but there a number of bandito's on here, who would have taken great pleasure from it

Yeah, I hope so too.

As for the films, I can neither confirm or deny!

Pain and road rash are part of the down sides in motorbiking in my less fortunate experiences, I have watched my pride and joy overtake me on it's side and many thousands of pounds delaminate in front of me and come to a stop with blood pouring from my skinless arms and still feel angst at my machines destruction over my own stupidity.Thankfully you are breathing and typing and commiserations on sending it "up the road".
Come back more experienced and brighter', and speedy recovery fella.;-0))

That's pretty much exactly how I'm feeling right now. I picked up the bike this afternoon and have just taken most of the broken bits off. When I get home I'll post the pictures on here. There are some things which seem simple enough and other things that are still a mystery right now. Once I get the pics up I'll explain what I mean. Ov

Got as far as "middle of the road" but having to scroll wayyyyyyyy across the page made ya OP unreadable. I understand it's an off and hope you're OK.

Try "preview" button as I for one can't be arsed to read it. Anyway, it's only sorry was a red un and as long as ya OK that's all that matters. @tu*

Sorry again.

So it looks as if it might not be so bad in terms of frame or fork damage. With all the plastics off the main thing bent was the front metal bracket that holds the indicators on. This attached to the frame with a few bolts and un screwed fine. The oil cooler looks ok, as does the radiator.

... A few things that are unknown to me are the leak on the right hand side lower side fairing where the plastic wore away. What is this andwhat could the fluid be?

Where the crash mushroom was attached it now looks like this.

Another thing is the front brake line from the handlebar. Should it be as bent as it is?

Apart from that, it looks surprisingly straight (apart from the right handlebar obviously).

Flat rear tyre too, which might be why I drifted wide and hit the mud in the first place.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated. And if you happen to have any front ends of a blackbird lying around I'd like to know! Thanks, Ov

Wolfie

Is a lunp
cone bracket buy new, bastid to get straight again.
front brake line nope, bar bar is bent so rest is not in right place.
rear angle doesnt look right might be the camera angle but subframe looks bent ie higher on the right hand side.
crash mushroom area is a problem, look like the lug has snapped off in there, but good thing is frame looks ok there.
cover is the pulser cover
oil return pipe underneath it, check there for leak.
