I washed off the mud and it looks a lot better now. It starts and runs perfectly and I really wish I had the time and money to get her back on the road. Unfortunately, I have neither of those things, nor do I have the experience or expertise to do the work myself. So, it kills me to do this, but I'm putting her up for sale as a restoration project for someone else.

A friend suggested making it a street-fighter bike or getting chinese fairings, which would be cool for somebody. Or it could be sold for spares. Like I said, the engine runs fine, the frame is straight (i got a professional mechanic to check for structural integrity), the tank is spotless, the seat is untouched, the forks are undamaged and the whole rear and left hand side of the bike is undamaged.

I'm going to go back to Crawley, West Sussex (I'm storing it in my in-laws stables) at the weekend to take proper photos of the whole bike (rather than just the damaged bits) and then I'll put them all up with a proper description on the sale section of here. If, in the meantime, someone is interested in taking the bike on for spares or as a project then please get in touch on here. I only just put 12 months tax and mot on and have done a recent oil, filter, air filter and spark plug service. It's also got a new uprated cct from jaws, new battery and new uprated reg/rec. 35k miles on the clocks (which still work).

Because of all this, I'm looking for ?1k ono and I've been informed that this is a very fair price.

Thanks all, Ov

Ok, so it's gone. Phoned a man called Ian at Southern Superbike Spares (triple s motorcycles) who was just around the corner in Smallfield. He came over to look with a view to breaking it or doing whatever he wants.

So, Taffy, you were a little under the mark with your estimate of ?500. Due entirely to my expert skills at negotiation we eventually shook hands on ?700. He put the bike in his van and took it away. Now I know I might have been able to get a few hundred more, but for the extra hassle of, say, taking out the engine with no skills or tools, I'm happy with the result. He's the bike breaker with a workshop, stand, all the tools and the know-how to take it all apart. I'm a history student at the university of kent.

My hand is almost healed now and I'll be taking the dressing off my arse later and possibly not getting another one put on (don't worry, no pics this time). cheers all, Ov

At least you are on the mend mate. Will you be returning to BB ownership or is that your student loan fucked till you graduate? (said tongue in cheek, before anyone gets all prissy on me!):-0)

I don't think Taffy was out, everyone has a price they're prepared to go to. Plus its very difficult to price on pictures, you have to have a safety margin. Looks like another bird removed from service.... Personally I'd have rebuilt it, which cost more than scrapping.

Glad you've got a good price as is.

Good to hear you're mending.
