Yeah right, and beaten by a yammy moped according to MCN's Top 50 greatest bike poll. They gave us 41-50 this week, obviously the few Bird owners that responded to this poll were'nt aware that it's a foregone conclusion that the Superblackbird is one of, if not the greatest bikes of all time. I think what MCN means to tell us is that its a poll for the bike with the greatest number of anorak/muppet owners that like to reply to bloody silly bike polls. Well that should give us a Harley on the top spot eh??

Top bikes

The bird is a top bike, but not really a milestone bike in history.
Look at things over time, daft things like 350LC's are now classic cult bikes !!!

Getting wound up over something in MCN is akin to getting miffed at, say, War And Peace, Star Wars, or any other work of fiction.

How the hell they get away with printing drivel week after week that has the factual content of an anti ageing cream advert beats me..

Surely the ( and I use the word losely here ) jorno's are not deliberatly telling lies .. ( and no I am not being ironic ).. I think they are just so fookin thick/stupid/out of touch with real bikers or who-ever that they believe and subsequently print pretty much all the are told

Consider this..
a very big percentage of the magazine buying biker brigade opt for one of the many EMAP publications..
In general they are pretty good and report real stuff that really has happened or is going to happen.

MCN is under the same banner.. yet it makes the Sunday Sport look like the Encylcopedia Britanica !

How can the boss men of EMAP let this happen ? Are they not worried their other publications may be tanted by poor journalism in MCN ?

I think I might be if I was in charge !

The BB is NOT one of the greatest bikes of all time... its good but I would only put it on a par with the Fireplace, Hayabusa and R1 in the greatest bike league. It didnt break new ground on its inception.

To me the greatest are those like the BSA Gold Star, the Featherbed Norton, the Vincent HRD, and to me the greatest bike, in my memory, was the Honda 750/4... it changed, not only the goal posts but the game overnight.

The FS1E was instrumental in introducing many young lad to the joy of two wheels... and the Yamaha 350LC was fookin brilliant. As far as sales go the Honda step through's are going to be remembered for a long time.

As far as marketing goes of course Harley are up there with the best and before anyone fires off at me I cant stand the feckers.. but you have to admire the company for dragging a 40's bike into the 21st century.

I agree with Jaws and Paunchy on this "and all MCN previous" issues,
I no longer subscribe to "the comic" and havnt for some time, so how did they include MY opinion as to which bikes do or dont make it to the top 100 best anything, :dunno:
fek em, its arses like them that are continuing to perpetuate the "greasy/hooligan" eliment of biking to the ignorent public,
