BIKE SECURITY

I see bitonthside has had an attempted theft on his bike.
What do you do to prevent your bike from been nicked ???? apart from all the usual stuff (TIPS).

My first rule is ''it pays NOT to advertise'' Ie the bike gets put away out of sight as soon as I get home, and no motorcycle related stickers in the car etc.

Er, seriously, putting my bike out of sight isn't possible. I DO have a security camera very visible inside the kitchen window pointing at it though.

  Its amazing what information you can find out about someone with very little delving isnt it?

My bikes are secured with a ground anchor with the chain going through the Norton frame and locked to the Ace and then two more chains and locks to secure both bikes together, but the best security device (according to my insurance company) was the move to Anglesey. I also have two dogs who kick up holy shit when anyones around.

My garage had an up and over door with a crappy shoot bolt at the base. I drilled and fixed four more bolts inside the door that go through the frame into the concrete supports. I then reinforced the access door with angle iron and fitted good locks. I also park an alarmed car right up to the door as well.

I dont... park the bike at the front of the house.... leave the garage door open longer than necessary when getting the bike out....

I do..... wash the bike out of sight in the yard .... always lock everything.... hide the keys... shift tools that could aid a thief out of the garage.....ask friends to bring their bikes into the yard if they are staying for more than a couple of minutes.... watch for anyone following me when I get near home.

Mine is in a garage at the end of the drive, its stood on a piece of 8' X4' 3mm steel (which was left over form my banger racing days) and there's a ground anchor welded to it. The steel means i can slide the bike about on the centre stand as space is limited. There is a Caravan close up to doors and 2 alarmed cars stagerred on the drive upto the caravan + 2 insomniac Labradors with big pointy teeth. As an addition there's me who never sleeps and have 2 X 12 bore shotguns incase they breach my other fortress. :bandit: :bandit:

It stops the local oiks from writing grafitti on the tank, pushing it over, stealing the red alloy dust caps, ramming it with a shopping trolley or setting the alrm off and running away. All on separate occasions of course.
