My MZ has the XTZ600 engine.
I wanted an XL600 in my youth.
Is it the 600 or the 660 ?

I always liked the rotax derived engine they first put in the early scorpion (i think)
I had an ex army Armstrong MT500 with that engine and loved it apart from the (bastard) left foot kickstart and lack of electric start, would do 90 flat out and pull you up the side of a house at more sensible speeds went all over on that with off road biker types an didn't get stuck once ..... A mate spat the belt on it at about 50mph, we just put a new belt on and away she went (safe engine so the squaddies couldn't kill them)

I have always wanted the 350 electric start version that are badged as harley davidson but they are 2,500 to 3000 now and I don't have anywhere near that amount of brass, shame really as it would suit my meagre needs

I'm pretty certain the MZ should have a 660. I always wanted a Nord West. But not the pink one...

A mate has a Derby Mulhacen with the xt 660 motor, no idea what Derby have done to the running side of things but its pretty gutless compared to another mates 660, i dont suppose the bazooka sized silencer helps much though

I did a DR course in the RAF on the MT500. Completely pointless but it did get me my bike licence.

All I remember about them was that they were heavy bastids and slow, but easy to ride. The kickstart was a nightmare as they tended to flood after the first couple of kicks. And to make our lives even more painful, we were taught to kick it on and off the bike.

I went to an auction for a gsxr and came back with the MT as nobody else bid on it, by the time I got home I knew I liked it a lot, within a week I loved it (apart from that bastid kickstart) mine would start from cold no problem at all but hot it could be a pain, taking 4 or 5 kicks, I think this was down to it having a Mikuni carb rather than the stock Amal (common upgrade)

I just loved the simple old school toughness of it and fun things like the rear wheel coming out real easy but everything else staying put so no chain adjusting or messing with brakes, fun tha the front and back wheels are interchangeable too

I want a 350 more than ever now lol

I'm pretty sure if you got one then, after taking an angle grinder to all the HD badges, the second thing you'll be doing is messaging Ogr1 for tips on what to wear when riding it.

Its the stamped side panels and 2 small stickers which are easily sorted

Funnily enough ogr1 has messaged me about a nice suitable jacket already, sounds interesting :meparto:

There isn’t a motorised bicycle on the planet that can corner like a proper vehicle with four wheels so it’s irrelevant.
Show me pics of you getting your knee down from the comfort of your Beemer then.

Action pics.. .....not you hanging off the seat on your driveway.

Getting ‘knee down’ is for show..it doesn’t make you go faster.

Anyway, I got my elbow down twice while enduring motorised bicycling…..
