Ok talked it over with my woman and would like some input
we moved to france this year with the idea of opening a campsite and b&b
we won't be open fully till next summer and would like to put forward
a bash over here but not to compete with jaws c7u8
we were thinking to ask you lot
a) what you want at a bash
b) how long to run for
c) when ?
d) and anything else
we are a good 6 hours away from the ports in the limousin region
and when we do open we will be a biker stop anyway
so what do you think

We would be very interested in the above, so long as 'like you said' it don't clash with the main B.I.R.D Bash.

In answer to your questions:

A- Realistically priced accommodation/camping (cheap),
A bar + food till late hrs, good plentiful clean sanitation (not the old French style WC's), varied music/dancing, at least one ride-out, pool would be nice and to meet some like minded natives I.e. the French Bird Club?

B- At least 3 nights, I/we personally would combined it with a weeks holiday to justify the travel cost.

C- Early to mid September when weather is still pleasant but not to hot to wear bike gear/ride also ferry prices will be reasonable.

C- A mass barbecue night, I.e. cook your own but all together.
Equipment hire such as tents, airbeds, bedding, cooking equipment, towels and so on that would save on luggage. There just ideas I had when I was thinking about doing the same as your self's but not necessary at all, but would be the icing on the cake.

I wish you two luck, it's something I've often thought about doing

Ps; it might be worth starting a new thread for this, it might be ignored with it been tagged on to an old one?

Jan & I may just do the German spring meeting on the first weekend in June, then go to the Dutch meeting on the following weekend

This is dependant on accomodation being available etc...

Could be a really good holi:bow:

Cheers,

Not going to try and wind anyone up or complain about any of the BASH's that have been on in the past because I know how much work eveybody involved puts inhto them.

I just wondered how many BIRD members lived 'up North' like wot I do and find riding down to the Southern BASH's a hell of a trek (it's over 1100 mile round trip!).

We went to the very first one from Scarborough (I met up at Helmsley) to the Lake District and although we were all new at it and didn't really know each other, it was great to see so many Birds in one place and meet all the brilliant riders !!

I've never managed to get to any of the Bash's after that cos of the distance involved (i.e. time off work, lost dosh as hourly paid scum!) so any BASH further up North would be welcome, mainly cos we could then come !!

I have every respect for Jaws and all the work he's done, as I have for all the others who put all that time and effort in because I could not put that time in, just like to see a BASH we could get to without having to plan a week off work !!! How many on here would come up to Scotland for a BASH every year ??!!

Any other Northerners (and Scots, etc) got any comments ??

(stand by to be shot !!)

Don't fret Smixy !!!

You're still able to make "The Bedlam in Belgium" aren't you ?

Will be posting details within the next couple of days :yo:

Smixy,

All those Southern Softies would freeze their little bits off if they camped up here, even in the summer, then of course there is that other little bastard, THE MIDGIE !!!

As nice as it is up here, camping is not something I'd recommend !!

Mind you there are plenty of nice hotels, which is much more to my liking cos my old bones like a soft bed, etc !!
