Avon Vipers

Viper is in production now and will appear with dealers over the next few weeks. Our testing has shown we don?t need a Blackbird specific tyre. We will of course monitor the situation and if for any reason their becomes a requirement for one (we have a large global market for these), then we would produce one. Avon Tech Manager

Official Info!!

JAWS and me met with the Avon guys at Coventry a few weeks back

Apparently they do intend launching a new tyre called Viper and the launch is imminent for the 2005 Uk season

I recall they will be doing a press launch at Catalunya GP track during the next few weeks prior to launching onto the UK market

We saw a pre-launch video that Avon have made and they look pretty impressive

Apparently the Vipers have been 3 years in development

Watch this space?

In your opinion maybe....I`ll stick to the Avons.....I`ve no issues and no problems..Put them on before Assen last year and still plenty of grip and wear left in them...not sure how they can be cheaper if you have to buy TWO set of Mich`s (117.50 x 2 = 235.00) to ONE Set of Avons.(?160.00.).... :dunno:
Anyway..personal choice i supose...

Err, Bert... this is exactly what GreyWolf said in his post opening this thread...
Anyway, it looks like Avon is about to launch a tyre, named Viper, and I was told by trusted sources it will hit the shops very soon...

I just thought of an interesting exercise: it'd be interesting to see in how many ways a sentence could be rephrased... Any more takers? Chunkey, he might bite but hey! he gave the bait! Anyway, I heard on the grapevineg0551pthat the tyre manufacturer Avon have developped a brand new tyre which they branded 'Viper' - this tyre is now being produced in the factory and will be available very from your usual tyre retailer. How's that for a scoop?

Somehow naming a tyre after a snake, does not sound right, ok I see the angle that snakes are close to the ground, but most people who have never held a snake still see them as SLIPPERY things that you can't control.
I think the Avon Cheetah would have been a better name, it conjures up acceleration/speed/road holding. any suggestions for a better name?
