I am three days into my new hearing aids after a recent hearing test.

Its a revelation! Birdsong, and all that high register , treble that i have been missing.....

Something about getting older though.....it feels like a bit of a watershed moment,!

Cheers, Mike

Serious question - have you always had (don't know how to spell riden) and, if so, did you ever use earplugs??

Mike, I’m in the cusp for both lugs I think, what did you go for? Comfy, discrete or the full on Bakelite jobs?

So, i have been aware of it for a while but have not acted. In a band, so thought that was it but the audiologist thought it was prob so ething i have always had which has become much worse.

I was always asking people to repeat what they were saying or not hearing the telly properly..... especially words ending with ch or st.

The type of device depends upon the prescription you get, so i went for the latest phonek audeo M, which is quite discreet, rechargeable and also wireless and bluebooth. So TV or spotify straight into the ear......

Wish i had done it sooner but as i said its a bit of a watershed, and something i kept putting off!

I have always work earplugs whilst biking. Worked in noisy factories as a kid, plus being a bass player!

I last had a hearing test a few years ago (work arranged testing, to monitor any loss or impairment) and my hearing is pretty perfect.

I wear ear plugs when riding and have done so for the last 20 years.

@Pow-Lo is old enough to need a hearing aid:p:D

After years of Woman saying I am deaf and me saying she is mumbling I was forced in to having a hearing test..
I expected the worse as I have always ridden without ear plugs ( canna stand anything in my ears ) and several years as a roady for my first wifes band

End result.. she fooking mumbles !
Nowt wrong with my lugs ( lost the top end gone.. I used to be able to hear the EHT of a telly fire up, about 17kH , but I still good to go at 14kH at quite low dB range

I had a test years ago. I have a deaf spot consistent with damage due to jet engine noise. Funny that as I worked and travelled mostly on Shackletons. :D

Nice one Jaws!

My low frq is above average ( bass player!) but high frq is shocking!

I had a flight in a shackleton from KL to Singapore and remember it being bloody loud! Maybe you have identified the cause!

did you know there are two Shackleton parked up at Pafos Airport in Cyprus?

Remember just about having the top of my head taken off by Shackletons (amongst other things) while playing golf at Lossiemouth in my youth.

I did two Westabouts in Shacks. All the way round the world from West to East. Took a couple of months as I remember. Back and forward to Norway like a yoyo! I absolutely loved Shacks. Last proper aircraft the RAF had. If Shacks caused the hearing loss it was worth it. :D

Yeah, I was just about to say that.

Also saw a Vulcan and Southend Airport just before Xmas.

And a Martin Marauder has been blasting about around this way in recent months.

Why would I have needed one when you turned 50?

You soiled, unchanged, 10 day old incontinence pad.
Cos your breath smells, you stink of pee and your mum dresses you funny.
