Alternative to Leathers ?

ah ha

Looks like the answer is, there aint no substitute for leather !!

My Shoei leathers have little perforations (lust like the tea bag) as well and do keep ya cool, I just wondered if anyone had come across an alternative and the answer to that is NO !!!

Cheers guys, all I gotta do now is clean the buggers :bang:

BMW do a range of two piece kit that is like armour in all the right places with a mesh covering that lets the air blow straight through. A friend of mine and her husband have some, they had an off last year on Cannock Chase when they hit a deer at about 50 mph it saved them and is still useable. The only down side is when you hit a big fly, it stays on the outside but its insides come through and splat onto whatever you have underneath :xm

There IS a substitute and it's called Kevlar. Quite a few racers and track chaps are wearing them now. It's lighter and cooler than leather, but retains the same properties and accomodates body armour in the same manner. I'm looking at a suit for myself at the moment, but not sure if I want to spend that sort of dough as they're a little dearer than a quality leather suit.

Alternatives to leathers

I use a Aerostich one piece suit all year round. It has various zips and flaps you can open to increase ventilation. It also has armour in the vulnerable places - generally excellent.

In the winter I use an electric underjacket, I bought the hi-viz option which is now very grubby.

I've not seen any kevlar suits - who makes them?
