council houses should never of been sold until new houses had been built to replace them, the monry was left for the counciks to rebuild but they didnt complete fuck up.

Council houses should NEVER have been sold. The legislation actually prevented the councils from using the funds raised from selling to build new!

In their last full year of operation before the (illegal) pit strike, British Coal made a loss of £485million. That figure excludes the subsidy received by British Coal from the electricity generating companies who were being forced to buy British coal at an above market price simply to keep unprofitable mines open. If this "subsidy" is taken into account, British Coal was losing £727 million per year. That is equal to £1.4 BILLION POUND in todays prices!!!

Maggie was just on the rise as Jennie and I left the UK in April 1975. I suppose my politics such as they are or were could be termed middle of the road and it was extreme unionism and a "nana state" labour government which really drove us to leave the country we loved. At the time, the Tory party were also a bloody ineffective alternative.

The union leadership and Labour hierarchy had their noses in the trough just as much as the ultra-right at the time (neither party was genuinely interested in the well-being of Derek's "working man") and from an outsider's perspective, at least Maggie had strong personal convictions and balls to try and make a real difference as others have said but no-one is without flaws. Wonder what the UK would have been like now if someone like Maggie hadn't come along?

The one lesson in life we learned from emigrating is that if you want to make a change for the better, you have to do it yourself and not wait around for others to make it on your behalf. S'pose we should be grateful to both the extreme left and right wings in the 70's for making that choice painfully obvious and making the move with not the slightest regret!

First of all, anyone who can celebrate the death of another human being (individuals like Mick Philpott, Ian Huntley, Ian Brady, Peter Sutcliffe etc notwithstanding) is a kunt, end of.

Sure, Mrs T did some things that can best be described as questionable, such as the poll tax. However, she stood up for what she believed in, did her best (as far I'm concerned) for this country and had balls of steel. She took no shit off the likes of that little commie twat Scargill and that French buffoon Mitterrand.

There has been no 'leader' of this once great country since Mrs T who is worthy to tie her shoes. As has been mentioned above already, all we've had since is a shower of limp wristed faggots who couldn't lie straight in bed and out to serve themselves. They have sold the soul of this country, flooded us with illegal immigrants and instilled a benefit culture that encourages reliance on the state.

The woman is a legend.

I had mates killed and your telling me its her fault I don't think so neither do thier familys, she stood up to all those peeps that tried to put this country down, so fiar play to her :bow:

I also grew up on a council estate (said to be biggest in europe at one point) and it did me no harm, peeps started to tidy up a bit more and look after thier houses once they starting buying them, so again fair play :bow:

As said at least she had balls, clearly bigger ones than the unions she crushed who lets be honest all tried to hold the country to ransom like the fucking french do at every oppotunity :xm
