Now John, are you're sure you can navigate so far from home without getting dizzy?

Apart from that, sounds like a good idea.

Are punctures still compulsary in Scarborough?

or having the bike blow over on a force 10 gale, then getting shot blasyed by beach sand blowing over the road and then to add insult to injury have the mother of all waves wash across the road covering the bike and passengers in fresh salty sea water. Otherwise it was an okay day.

Might be going to Donnington for Moto GP that weekend - other half has been going on about it for months now. c7u8 Mind you, the money saved on not going could be put to better use on a decent ride-out. Will let you know.
Have you for a route in mind?

Dont suppose you've got a better map, one we can at least read?
Also, whats the distance etc, and is the route open to offers?

From the map it looks like Scarborough to Whitby, then down to Pickering, through Helmsley and Thirsk and then to Ripon. From Ripon through Hawes, then to Kirkby Lonsdale, then up to the Lakes. Is that about right? If so, good choice of roads :yo:

Other half was a bit concerned about keeping up as she only passed her test in November and now can't ride for another 6 weeks - broke her finger after a tumble off-roading the other week. Have persuaded her that she'll be OK and looks like we're along for the ride and a few  . Count us in.

Any ideas about B&B's?

Currently I'm not sure if I can make any, some or all of this, I should know soonish though. What I'd like to try and do is meet up with you at Devils Bridge and stop over for a run around on Sunday.

Anyway, I'd like to suggest a minor route change. It would be a missed opportunity if you didn't go up the Lyth Valley. The current route uses the Kendal bypass (A591, boring dual carriageway), at the cost of a couple of miles, the A5074 is by far a more, errrr..... shall we say, interesting road.

Although only a few miles in length, this is still my favourite road after nearly 30yrs of riding, sections of it still leave my heart in my mouth when ridden briskly. It's the old main road to Windermere prior to all the bypasses, very few cars (even at weekends).

Hi Clive, w;;v

I can manage the Sunday.
Let me know where in Keswick we need to meet, and what time, and I'll see you there.
