No, it definitely wasn't me. Personally, despite certain opinions about me and my moderating, I would not have deleted the link because there was sufficient warning about the content. In fact, because of the warning I did not look at the link to see how offensive it may have been.

I did see the link because I, along with all other Bikers Oracle moderators and administrators, received at least one email reporting/complaining about the post in question.

Before a witch hunt is started, I'm sure nearly every moderator who received the message will have popped in to have a look. In fairness to whoever did delete it, the link probably fell outwith of the rules that everyone agrees to when they register with this, and every other Bikers Oracle forum, i.e.

Can I just add my ten penneth here please.

The one thing that?s missing on this forum, unlike some other forums is a declaration of how old you are when viewing items.

Some forums where iffy stuff is posted asks that you over a certain age to read what?s posted therein. A disclaimer if you like, it may even be password protected. Admin have seen fit to include in their terms of agreement that they retain the right to remove certain items, quite proper and responsible I think.

Now taking into the consideration of protection of children from harm, what consideration was given by the person who posted the link to any child that might have been tempted to view the said item. Remember that this forum is open to our families etc and my son looks at sections of the forum.

Would I have been happy for him to stumble across that link, no I wouldn?t and I would have certainly had words or took action against the person posting it.

So a little more thought and consdieration may not have gone amiss before said person posted said item.

s04pb0x6 thats my lot thanks..

So what is there to worry about then?

This still stinks "Bob".

So if we are now going to worry about what kids see in the "iffy" section how come zillions of other threads in that section haven't been pulled? What about all the gash shots (and more) in the "Babe of the day" thread. Should we pull that? And dozen of other threads that contain links to dodgy material, lets not be coy here. Maybe we should delete all the religious and god jokes in case religious people of their kids see them.

The point is you can't pick and choose what shouldn't be posted because an individual's child might see it. It is the iffy section after all, find a way to keep your kid out of there if you don't want them to see it (not at you Alan... it's a generalised point I'm making). No doubt people keep their kids away from adult video's, books, tv, etc, so what's special about the Bird forum?

Those that like to be part of and contribute to this forum but have complained by email abut this thread should have done it openly. That way, collective opinion could have been evaluated and maybe the thread would have been taken down by way of democratic pressure rather than some interfering and righteous mod from another forum sneaking in here anonymously and taking it upon him/her self to delete it just to appease some whinging moralists who think their wishes are above that of others.

It's good news that cross forum interference is being looked at as this shouldn't have happened this way.

Hey, I don't make the rules.
And, FWIW, I don't use my Moderators powers on forums I'm not allocated to, unless I'm covering for a moderator who is away.

Just a couple of observations, firstly 'Bob' the moderator from an inferior sector of Bikers Oracle, seems like a nice enough guy but takes his role within his own forum far too seriously , bit of a jobs worth ,no need to be as diligent or obsessive, which brings me on to my second point , I frequent this forum because up until the pulling of the ' gory ' link I thought it stood out above all the other fora I visit , not only bike related but several other of my hobbies , as a forum where self moderation / regulation sees common sense and what is morally correct winning through hands down. The one or two outwardly racist posts that emerge have been rightly scorned from the vast majority whilst at the same time being able to see the funny side of any joke which focuses on one particular ethnic group , religion or sexual orientation and distinguish between what is a joke and what is incitement. The government impose far too many restrictions on us without having our views restricted or sanitised by those who feel the need to take the moral high ground and hold their own opinions above all others. This can't be the way forward surely and I sincerely hope the laid back moderation we have come to know and love is not replaced by 'Bob' and his clones

Lets be right here~~~

The "offensive post" - not that I bothered to watch it, apparently shows soldiers being killed - not by gun, bomb or missile [god knows that bad enough] but butchered in cold blood..........

......In front of a video camera - presumably to be used for propoganda purposes

Not just one but many of them

Now lets - just for one minute - put ourselves in the shoes of members on this forum who have served this country well in the armed forces and may have been witness to other cold blooded killings

What impact and effect could this video link have on them?

Furthermore, there is at least one member on here [and a regular poster] who has his own flesh and bloody serving in Iraq

How the hell do you think this makes them feel?

So lets - just for a second - spare a thought for those lads and lasses away from home serving this country - and for the parents/wives/girlfriends left back at home

Question still remains [and I do NOT want to know the answer] why someone would search or be sent links to this type of material - watch [some of] it.....
then perpetuate it by posting it on a general-community forum

What sort of physche allows that to be done and still sleep at night?

well as a serving member of HM forces, i Heeded the warnings and didnt view.

simple and straight foreward

if there hadnt been a warning, then it would have been a very different story

every member of the Armed forces is someones son or daughter , but what exactly did they think they were signing up for when joining the military. If watching that video stops just one youngster signing up for the forces , only to go on to be killed in Iraq / Bosnia / Afghanistan or any other far away place that has nothing to do with Britain then in my opinion that is a good thing

if its true

why not see it, I believe only the truth can redeem.
I did not see the scenes but would, to better understand what is happening in this fkng war.
what is happening there that nobody should know and why?
Scenes of deceased children have already been shown on this forum so what could be more wierd?
Besides the feeling of patriotism, is this an international forum or not? I have no relatives fighting in iraqr and wish nobody had.
Please if someone has the links to the footage of the killing of the brazilian on teh subway by the british police, go on put on the adequate session.
Also if someone finds out what happened to that disapeared girl in portugal, go on.

Summed up perfectly by Chuff, and would wholly agree that it would have been a very different matter if there had been no warning.

Probably the same physche that sets up a secret web cam to film his mate and his missus when they stay at his home.

Care to comment on that one Robbo??? And any of his supporters in this matter.

In my opinion, I think ya bloody sick.
