Last July I had a heart attack that left me with heart failure - the left ventricle is damaged and only working at about 25%. Returning home from hospital, the walk from the car to the house was sufficient to leave me out of breathe.
I did the cardiac rehab offered and then went on to regular visits to the gym and have a couple of routes that I walk on the local country lanes.
On the treadmill I started to do a short bit of running, and initially one minute at a very slow pace left me knackered, but I persisted.
Today I hit a new personal record, 1.43km at a reasonable pace, done in 9 minutes.
A 5km charity run is my goal!
